I have a frigidare G6RA 80 percent furnace and I just noticed the furnace cycles constantly when it reaches the selected temp on thermostat. it will stay on for a long as it takes if you select a higher temp on the thermostat for as long as 30-40 mins to reach that temp with no stoppage everything normal. but once it reaches the selected temp it will cycle every 6 -8 mins. on, then shut down normally with burners shutting down and fan cooling furnace down for about 120 seconds then about 5-8 mins latter it will start up normally again run for 6-8 mins and shut down normally again and continue to do this all night long. I changed thermostat and put a new control board in furnace also cleaned burner temp probe and checked overtemp switches . I don't think this is normal or maybe it is. any ideas I would like any suggestions thanks

Every mechanical thermostat I've seen (which isn't many!) has a cycle time adjustment, usually behind the cover. I'm sure electronic ones have the same, built in to some hard-to-find menu!

Honeywell calls it Smart Response Technology. They claim it is accurate to less than one degree. I have a Honeywell 6000 tstat with Adaptive Intelligent Recovery. I have it programmed to heat to 70 deg at 6:00 a.m. Since the software "learns" by tracking the time it takes to satisfy that temp, my furnace typically comes on at 5:35, so at 6:00 it is already at 70 degrees. Like yours, mine will short cycle numerous times per hour to maintain the programmed temp. Fortunately, it does not do this in cooling mode. Otherwise the short cycling would beat your compressor to death in no time. If yours is like mine, in the setup menu you can disable the "smart" function so it will run like a conventional tstat.

All electronic thermostats ship with a max of 5 or 6 cycles per hour. Whether you can change that, IDK.
Be happy that it actually shuts off 6 times in an hour. When it is -15 and windy up here, the furnace will run for 15 minutes, shut off, then start up again and run for 15 minutes!

was there a switch inside the tstat for using gas or electric furnace? maybe set to electric furnace mode.

That sounds a bit fast, but could be current conditions causing it. Normally a furnace will cycle 2 to 3 times per hour. That's about 12 minutes on, and about 12 minutes off.
Most electronic t-stats have automatic have a way to adjust the cycling rate. Pull out the owners manual, and go to the advanced programming section. You should find the correct screen in there.

If thermostat is new, could be a hole in the wall behind the thermostat is letting cold air come in the back, throwing off the temp sensor and making it cycle funny. Have seen that happen.

I had a gas furnace and replaced the old mercury round dial switch thermostat with a new electronic thermostat. Then mine started doing the same thing as yours, the new thermostat tried keeping the temperature at the exact setting. I ended up replacing it with a "new" old fashioned dial type mercury switch witch has a much wider temperature gap.
