I'm still trying to come up with a cool name for my garage. I restore old VWs, have a Crossfire and various other toys. Either some German name or something evil sounding. A long term plan for the garage is to also use it as a winery/meadery. I want to have a "hobby winery" eventually. Right now I have a 2 year old, so I can't put the time into it that I want. My house has a 2 car attached garage, but I hate to leave my BMW out in the elements all the time. When I can clear our a spot, the wife gets it. This past winter, my temporary garage collapsed on one of my VWs under the weight of 54" of heavy snow, so enough was enough. I pulled the trigger at the end of April on the loan and work got started in early May.
We go from here:
to muddy hole:
to footings:
to forms for the walls:
to walls poured:
to backfill and compaction, ready for the floor:
and here I sit today. Waiting on the builder. Talked to him yesterday and he was doing another pour. Said he would get to my floor either late this week or early next week. Considering he started at the beginning on May and told me approx 4 weeks, I imposed a timeline on him yesterday. That it had to be done by the end of June. Fully true. We're having a party in mid-July and I can't have my property looking like a construction site. I just hate delays.
