Actually started this project last year but thought I would throw it out here. Purchased a lake lot in MN and decided to build a garage with a loft so we could use it as a cabin until we want to move to the lake permanently.

Thanks. We are going to use it as a sleeping area for now. The siding on the outside is box steel but the interior I used what is called Barnwood siding at Lowes. It comes in 4x8 sheets that we just stapled up.

We decided to do steel on the ceiling and on the bottom 3 feet. The top portion I used 1/2" 4x8 siding from Lowes that looks like barn wood.

I have sheet rock in garage at home and don't care for it. I ended up scarring and denting it as I am not careful enough. This should stand up much better.

Indoor progress. I still have some screwing to do on the ceiling.

Last set of pictures. Once we build our house on the property (hopefully in 3 to 4 years) this will become more of a garage/man cave.

I still have work to do on the work bench area. I put up some pegboard and will be building some storage above it.

Still debating on what to do with the floor. I really like the look of a clear coat but a little worried about it being slippery and standing up to a snowmobile driving across it. We like to ice fish and ride snowmobile and will be parking the in the garage so there will be plenty of snow tracked in to make it slippery.

Did you put some sort of finish on it?

I noticed they only stock it at certain stores.

Since we are using it on our interior we are not putting any kind of finish on it. I think it will hold up pretty good based on the reviews. I sure hope so anyway since I did the entire place in it! It seems good so far and I did the bathroom and the attic last summer.

I have an epoxy floor in my garage and store snowmobiles in it in the winter. Love the epoxy but it can be very slippery when wet. We used non-slip in the clear coat, extra in the walk ways and in front of doors.

I bought an "Eazymove" dollie to move the machines on and out. Otherwise your carbides and studs will scratch the epoxy. My friends use the same dollie in their garage with an unfinished concrete floor and like it. It is very easy to use. I'm only 5'6", 145# and can move machines around very easily. Hope this helps you out.

I just noticed that the siding is listed as being for not residential use only. What is that all about?

I misquoted the Lowes site. It should have been "For non-residential use only". I think that would mean that it should not be used for residential applications. The manufacture's representative in the comments section on the Lowes site says otherwise.

burelyfarm, Thanks for the feedback. That is exactly what I wanted to hear. Experience from people that have already been there and done that.

Grizzly Guy, Thanks. We love spending time there now and it will be used heavily when we start building. Right now I only have "some" of the necessity type tools there as I don't want to buy 2 of everything or should I say can't afford to buy 2 of everything.

tlwhiter4b, To be honest I didn't even see that part of it and thanks for the feedback.

Is a lake lot in Minnesota like a desert lot in Arizona? They are everywhere?

Very nice weekend getaway. The living area will make a nice wood shop once the house is built.

AZpilot, There are 10,000 lakes so there a few of them out there. I am looking forward to using it as a garage/man cave as I do small projects in it now but am limited by space and creating too much dust according to my wife.

License plate of mn "land of 10,000 lakes". I believe there are closer to 14,000 though.

Wikipedia: list of lakes in Minnesota. Although promoted as the "Land of 10,000 Lakes," Minnesota actually has 15,291 lakes of 10 acres or more, but only 11,842 of those lakes are "officially" counted by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.[1] If all basins over 2.5 acres were counted, Minnesota would have 21,871 lakes

bww_mnm, I stand corrected although some of the lakes they have listed as a lake are basically a swamp or slough.
