Garage ceiling sheets

My 24 x 28 garage project has a vaulted ceiling inside. Once insulated I'll put up the ceiling material, but I need to decide the best overall choice. I may just go with underlayment:https://www.homedepot.com/p/Dimensi...ERCH=REC-_-pipsem-_-203183010-_-206120926-_-N

Its about the best cost option, smoothest, easiest to paint white. Only issue would be sagging possible between the 24" truss spans. Anyone else got other choices that is cost reasonable and stable, easy to paint or white already.

I second the idea of the white metal roofing material. Its ribbed, so it's pretty strong. I just did my 16' x 32' extra garage with this. Framed 24" on center - no sagging. I used the 5' long panels, since I was installing this alone, but if you'll have help, they make them in a variety of lengths up to 16' or so. Used vinyl j-channel for siding along the edges - makes a nice finished look.

I was at Home Depot last night looking at alternatives and I did consider painted aluminum soffit panels, 16" wide x 16' long. But the white metal roof sheets are a real candidate too. Got any pictures of the finished ceiling? I like the idea of putting up painted panels and done, no more work to do.

Do you realize that the product you linked is only 2x4' sheet?

Metal would be way cheaper & a much better product.

You can order them any length you want. They can be had much longer than 16 foot. All variety of colors if white isn't your thing. White is usually the cheapest and reflects the most light though.

Use corrugated (ribbed) white metal. it can be cut to most any length. Raise into place with a sheet rock lift. Lift can be purchased cheap at HF for around $130 with a coupon or on sale. After installation sell the lift for $75-100. The metal is prepainted, maintenance free and reflective. I hung my ceiling then blew in insulation. Metal panel looks awesome. Did you use standard fasteners or something cheaper? I'm looking at doing the same but with 17' scissor truss. any tips would be great, like how you did your insulation?

I was planning for 1/2" or 3/8" plywood initially. Looking like a lot of heavy, awkward work 16+' off the shop floor.

I'm just going to strap it so I can support the VB and insulation. Add tin later if I even care at that point.

You could save the work and expense of the strapping if you just put up the tin now. The tin will cost a bit more but will go up just as fast as the strapping.

Standard sheets will span 4' so 2' is no problem.

I have no doubt and would put money on it that 3/16 or 1/4" underlayment will start to sag under it's own weight after it's hung up.

White ribbed metal siding, put it up and it's done.
