I'm looking for a garage door for my 20x30 garage build. I think I want 18x7 for easier parking, but maybe 16x7 is better?

My actual question is this: my wife hates stamped panel doors, as they look too "90s tract home". Is there any place I can get a door similar to the one shown below for sub $1200, or is that just wishful thinking?

I can't see the picture, but if you are looking at carriage house style, yes they get pricey. You can look into a flush door, where it is stamped with wood grain but not the panel design. Add decorative hinges and handles and you might like the look. One customer added the vinyl overlay himself and made it look good. That was a lot of work for him and we had to come back and change springs as he added that much weight. Your time, your dime.

Use something other than imgur.com or photo bucket.

Another wife?

How the hell is having two wives gonna make it any easier???

Use something other than imgur.com or photo bucket.

Never had issues with imgur on any other board, but I'm new around here. What does everybody use? Not really keen on getting yet another image hosting account.

A flush door might be my best bet...

I'd make some calls to garage door suppliers (not big box stores) in your area to see what they have to offer. I don't know where you are exactly in SE Michigan, but I see The Overhead Door Company has a distributor in Toledo. https://www.overheaddoor.com/

LOL, my stocker type door was $380 and the wife approves. Nice door though - it's only $, get what makes you happy. No reason not too.

They do make roll up doors that look like carriage style

This is an overhead, doesn't swing on hinges.

My wife is very particular about home design. If I told you how much we spent on our tile backsplash and how many tile samples we have in a box in a basement you'd think we're lunatics. It's not all bad though, it means I get to live in a nice house.

No way to fit a 8ft tall door?

It could be done, though I might have to make the walls a little taller. That can still change until wednesday morning. But honestly I don't think I'll need it. I don't have any tall vehicles, and with the width of the garage, it's just not well suited for big vehicles in general. The back half of the garage will most likely have scissor trusses, so there will be plenty of headroom there.

I’m with the wife, the standard stamped doors do look cheap. I like carriage style doors but there is a cost associated with them.

I also agree with her, even though I'm not as particular.

With what I was quoted for a similar standard standard door of similar construction, it's maybe another 35-40% in cost. Not nothing, but still doable when you look at the total cost of the building.

Maybe you didn't quite understand............The below is a standard sectional roll up door that rides on tracks....but looks like a carriage door

No, I'm following you. That's what this is. You linked a Pella door, which is apparently the exact same thing as an Amarr, like I have shown above. Sectional, on tracks, rolls up, rather than swing out or up.
