Hey everyone. I am new to the group and in need of some advice on installing garage doors on my new garage. Current set up is a 2x4 wall sitting on top
of a cement block wall. I’m confused if I need to build out the wall differently or if I need special hardware to complete this install. Any advice or pictures from
a similar install would be very helpful. Thanks.

You should be good to go once you finish off the rough opening. You'll have to add finishing boards down the sides to the floor level. I would do this with PVC trim to eliminate water damage of using standard lumber. Then once your door is mounted, you'll add your door seals around on top of that.

If you need a sketch, I can make one up for you or find one for you.

Here's one quick pic I found. Where it says "Side Jamb".....that would be your finished PVC or treated lumber board if you wrap it with aluminum. I am also attaching this link. Look at it and scroll down to where it states "View PDF" and that might explain things a little better. https://www.finehomebuilding.com/1992/05/01/framing-for-garage-doors

I think an illustration looking from the side would be most helpful. I’m not sure what I need to do to compensate for the 3-4” of stem wall that stick out farther than the 2x4 wall.

Don't ask.
Mine just like the pic kevin posted Except the "on top 2x6 interior-side-jamb" extends to almost tough the floor (I kept them up about 1/4 inch).
The bottom brackets for the rail and the sensors for the door opener are attached to them.

How you build it out depends on the size of the opening now. You need the door width plus three inches at a minimum to make your door work. If you do not have that between the concrete, you must build the wall so the door will be inside the concrete. When you are done, the door opening must be all in one plane. From the floor to the ceiling must be one straight plumb wall, as well as across.
