A lot of people swear by certain brands, but personally, I don't think it makes a whole lot of difference. I guess in some cases it matters, depending on what type of a door you have, some really big heavy doors need a really "tough" opener, but for a regular garage door I suspect pretty much any brand would give you acceptable service.
I have a chamberlain opener, my oldest daughter has a Genie, two friends of mine have a Craftsman, and the list goes on. They all work reasonably well so I have to think that any opener would give you decent service as long as you aren't opening and closing the door constantly. If the door will be going up and down 50 times a day, then I can see where you would want to be much more selective in the opener that you buy.
