I purchased 2 high velocity floor fans and mounted them to the ceiling wired 2 plugs to a switch and they move some decent air. Them purchased a ceiling fan from northern tool and that helps too.

I didn't get a chance to read this whole thread so not sure if someone suggested this but I use a couple old furnace blowers. They move tons of air (usually push air through your entire house). They work great and they take up a small area and you can mount them pretty much anywhere.

I have a farm barn fan on wheels. It's one of those 36'' four blade type that runs at low RPM but really moves the air. It really helps using it outside too to keep the bugs away.

are you talking about a fan like this?

or this?

i was thinking about the latter "whole house fan"

the gable style one works , I have the ones that mount in the roof ( power vents ) and now they have the powervents that are solar powered ( a little pricey but pay for itself in electric bills ) the whole hose one is nice but I have found the air will get stagnant in some spots in the attic as you pressurize it instead of making it a depression of pressure and **** from the eves and along the roof ( try to make heat flow in its natural convection ( up) but any fan is better than none up there .

if your down south and want a extreme fan one shop I worked at they put a furnace blower and exausted it outside thru a large vent with shudders , it really moved the air nice

Hey all, i did some searching but i couldent seem to find any threads related to garage fans.

i am looking to install a ceiling mounted fan in my garage to help move some air around in the summer months. Does anyone have any recommendations? I would like something somewhat quiet and i have no idea what sort of CFM i would need. I also want it to oscillate.

Here is what im currently looking at:

Great Question OP. I was looking at these and was actually considering one of the 30" ones. I'm curious as to how quiet they are.

quiet they aren't there industrial fans they move air and make some noise , not so much on huricane ( high) but on the low speed you will hear the blade chopping the air like a air plane propeller at idle
