Garage Floor grinder with handle issues

Hi, I purchased this unit for $20 bucks at an estate sale. It is really good at grinding concrete without the stick but becomes very unwieldy when the stick is installed. For the price, I would like to use it to grind down sections of my garage floor a piece at a time.

Also, it came with 2 pieces of metal with ground ring terminals but I am not sure where they go.

It is a straight up chinesium unit with German writing on it and it came with no instructions.

1) Will a solid metal pole make this thing easy to use or would I just be wasting money to find out?

2) Where do those 2 pieces of metal with the ground ring go? Will I end up getting shocked if I can't figure it out?

I found similar units on Amazon and I see the complaints about it being very difficult to control while using the stick.

Thanks.

UPDATE: I used my SUV jack handle in there and it's about 60% better. It's not solid by any means but much thicker. The pole is shorter as well.

Looks like a mini-floor buffer. We used to have buffer rodeos in the Navy. The key to using one is to try to let one side do the work so that it's always pulling away from you. Then you can tilt it forward/rearward ever so slightly to move left/right. If you try to keep it flat, it'll just want to dance all over.

That is for detail work around the edges. Rent a real one for the majority of the floor.

So it doesn’t take a year
I think you mean multi-year. I finally got it done though. I am an old man now. Lots of ibuprofen and knee pads worked. Good thing is that the grinder still lives, lol.
