I need to get something to control the snow melting off our vehicles in the garage. What do you all use/suggest?

Thanks Brandon

I have a 16 x 20 mat that I built. I use a 18 oz vinyl thats used in the billboard and banner industry and I have 3" pockets on all four sides. I insert 1" conduit in the pockets to create a lip to keep the water contained to the mat. I have to mop it once a month or so depending on snow fall.

The main reason I made this was my garage floor is not too level. All the water wants to run straight to the entrance door to the house. We would get a puddle of water right in front of the door! It drove we crazy. Now that problem is solved.

I bet you can find a Awning company or a billboard company to make one. They might have scraps or cut offs to make it. Mine cost $180.00 for the mat.

I use curbside carpet scraps.
Most of the time they are 3 to 4 foot wide strips, which is perfect for one strip under each side of the car.
I just kind of deture their trip to the land fill.
When they get too dirty they go to the curb again.

Do be careful of the strips that were along the wall.
They will be full of nails.
Use gloves.

Well I just part a cheap tarp and rolled up some 1x1 strips of cedar in it we will see how that works. $300 bucks for something that my pickup would fit on seems really high when I got a tarp for $30.

Be careful with the tarp, I once wrapped one around the axle of my mustang when I tried to back up with to much throttle

Some interesting responses!

Living in the snow-zone of SK, I have some experience in this topic. The first mats I bought where from CarSmart and they SUCKED! The vinyl sheeting got brittle and cracked through the plastic edging, as well as from tire wear. The water went through them the second year.

The next ones I bought where from our Coop and they are made with a much tougher canvas with a sewn-rope edging. These ones stand up WAY better and are less expensive to boot.

A little trick (free advice?) is to put something under the mats where you get out of your vehicle to keep from stepping in a puddle!
