Wow looks great! Now that they are all bolted together, what do you think of the weight capacity? Did you really need the extended legs? I'd be storing my extension ladder under the cabinets.

Thanks!

These are the Pro 3.0 series. They are way heavier than the lighter weight cabinets that many are hanging on the walls. Just the weight of the cabinets alone must be a ton or more. I had to use a hydraulic floor jack to lift them into position. Then they are also much roomier than the lighter series cabinets, and I intend to put some heavy stuff in them.

I just don't think it's a good idea to hang several tons on the side of my wall framing, which is designed to carry a load on the top -- not the side. Having the legs on the outboard side changes the weight distribution so that all the load on the wall is vertical. It puts my mind at ease.

I keep the extension ladders in a different workshop. This one will be reserved for vehicle parking.

My garage has a curb and I made a base out of plywood to set my cabinets on. The curb is 16" tall on the garage door side. The slope was an easy fix with the plywood base.

Plus my cabinets aren't as nice as yours.

Thanks guys. Not sure what value it adds dollar-wise, but it definitely adds to the enjoyment value. The wife actually likes going in there now. She used to say the garage was 'creepy' and avoided it.

Fantastic result man! Enjoyed the process pics. I will be going this route myself and you just made up my mind on how to do it. Thanks for sharing.

No worries. It could chip the surface glaze, but cracking a tile is pretty difficult on a concrete slab like this. But I'll keep a few spares anyway.

Any concerns about dropping a tool ‘just right’ and breaking a tile?

Sent from my iPhone using The Garage Journal mobile app

The chance of that happening is a lot less than what you might think. If installed correctly, the tile essentially provides a harder, protective layer to the concrete and both are bonded together 100%. Can it happen? Sure but not very often. And if it does, it's not overly hard to replace a single tile or two.

Great looking floor!
I may have missed this in the thread but did you put down ceramic or porcelain tiles?
(I can't find anything close to $0.69 sqft in porcelain!)

Sorry, no updates. It looks like I may be waiting for spring to get back to it because of the cold temps. This garage isn't heated or insulated. Plus I had to park one of my cars in here that has high performance summer tires that can't be left outside in below freezing temperatures.

I've moved on to working on Christmas present projects in my warm, heated workshop loft. Right now I'm refurbishing an old 1960s stereo phonograph console for my daughter.

I don't have a link to the tile but you can find it on the Lowes.com website as Project Source Devanna Beige Ceramic Floor Tile 13" x 13". Still showing priced at $0.69/ sqft.

Thanks, unfortunately those are not available in Canada so far as I can tell.

I'm only finding tile in the $1.50 sq. ft. range.

I was in Home Depot over the weekend and found something similar for $0.49/sqft. I couldn't find that ceramic tile on their website at all. MOF, I couldn't find much at all below $1.50/sqft on their website, but there are many options inside the store.
But I'm in the States. I'm not sure what's what in Canada. I did not check Lowe's.

I've seen the ones I used priced even lower on occasion. But at that low of a price it really only affects the overall price for a project of this size by a few dollars.
