Garage heater electrical question?

Just bought a Fahrenheat fuh54.plan on using a separate t-stat and where I'm confused is I'm looking at a old post about the hookup he is using a junction box although he is doing a cut off switch to.do I need a junction box if I'm running wire for the t-stat and heater?

I put up a similar heater to the one you are using but it was branded by Northern Tool and I used an Aube electric/electronic relay. to control the 220v from a smart wifi thermostat. Your heater is 5000w and uses 21.5 amps and this works because it supplies 22 amps max.

I actually installed the Aube in the base of the heater and ran out a 18/3 thermostat wire to the thermostat in the area that I wanted to sense the heat.
