Alright guys,
Not sure if anyone even really does this. I know a lot of people name their cars. I personally have not named any of my cars. Do any of you name your garages??
Wife said to me today, "you need to name the garage". I am finishing up my 28x32 garage. I haven't done a build thread simply because I know people will ask for pictures and I don't know how to post them! Haha
Anyway, when the wife calls and I say I'm in the garage, she now asks which one. She thinks it would be easier to just have a name for it.
My request is for you guys to give me ideas on names. Please keep it clean as I will be calling it (to be decided) in front of my children/family.
Thanks guys and fire away with clever names.

I have only thought of a couple so far. The two I have come up with are area 52 or the psychologist/psychiatrist.

Generally, I think this is a bad idea. Personalizing the space just provides an excuse for spousal banishment to the area. If you need to do something like this, I suggest building a she-shed and naming that. Kick the wife out - maintain control of your living room AND garage.

If you must, there's one member here who went with the Manhole. I suspect that isn't a very common one, so it should be open to re-use.

"The Shop" is where you work, "The Garage" is where you park.

I call mine the barn. Easy to spell, and most people understand what it is. The truck is 'Bubba, the Miata is 'Buttercup', but the barn is just, well, the barn. I'd still like to name our 'estate', though. Daisy Hill Farm, after our little dog, is the front-runner.

Slightly related- When I was a kid growing up in coastal CT, many of the seasonal cottages had names. A recent visit showed that this custom has largely disappeared, probably because those seasonal cottages are now year-round homes.

Right! The shop is where I do my working on stuff, the garage is for parking the vehicles for the night. We also have a tool shed, wood shed, potting shed and a 'river shed.' It sits down in the large ravine or valley that runs through our property. It's actually a dry creek that only runs during heavy rains, but we call it the river. There is a large rock near the path/road that runs down to the river, and she had a plaque with River Bregar on it and mounted on the rock.

The garage is mine. It's "my garage"!
The only car that parks in there is "hers".

But I do everything in my garage- turn wrenches, woodwork, bodywork, welding, etc.

So again, it's my garage! I don't get banned there- I go there for solitude.

The name- My Garage

My SUV- "Black Betty"; my son's SUV- "Big Bertha"
"Her" car doesn't get a name- because it takes room up in "my garage"!

I have a hearing impairment and constantly saying what over the years, one day over Sunday beers with my brother and fiancée at the folks garage, she goes the What Hut! You always saying what and this garage is like a cozy little hut!

Then when I took possession of my new one just a little bit bigger, I kept the name and changed it to The What Hut V2.0.

A buddy is just building his 24x36 on a duplex property shared between him, his new wife and her mother so the mother in law is getting a 15x24 section of said garage. When they poured the concrete, he told me fk I am in the dog house cause they. Didn’t realize how big this garage is gonna be. Loss of a lot of yardspace for their dog sitting business. Now I keep calling it the Doghouse as that’s where he’s gonna be when his wife gets upset with him!

I’m in the same boat. I have the garage, the shed, the lean-to, the barn, and the shop already. I also have a 2nd garage (park vehicles) that I also work in. Never know what to call this area without confusing the wife, besides 2nd garage which kinda *****.

My detached is simply "My garage" or "Daddy's Garage"...... The wife gets that attached garage for her car and all of the kid's toys so that one is "Her Garage" or "Mommy's Garage"...

Not very original I know but it identifies easily which "garage" we're referring to

"Spousal Banishment" to the area would be a welcome punishment!!!!!! With a wife, 4yo daughter, and 2 yo son.......time in my garage is astoundingly limited!

My sister-in-law bought me a sign for my garage years ago that says "Billville". So, that's what it is.

We have a garage with a wall down the middle so it's your garage (that's mine ) or my garage ( the wife ).
The thing is the wife's side is also my work shop

Like most of us I’m going out to “the shop”
This is the detached (my area )
She has the attached 2 garages DBL deep or DBL wide
Self explanatory. She uses the DBl Deep as a craft room
And the DBL wide houses one of the Camaros and extra business supplies.
But our house and shop property is coined
“Swanky Acres”
But let me think on it,, I’ll come up with something that will stick...
I had a car I wanted to name , but she started calling her “Queenie”
And that stuck!!

I just tried a new name for my garage. I called it "Girlfriend's House."

I got punched pretty hard. Not sure if we'll keep it...

The place where we park cars is the garage, but partitioned off on the far end is the place where we work on cars and that's the lift bay. The detached building with the woodworking tools is the shop. And then there's 4 sheds, 2 of which are pool sheds usually referred to as the big pool shed and the little pool shed. The other 2 sheds which house the yardwork tools are simply the brown shed and the gray shed.

There's a street sign hanging on the back wall of my garage. It says "ASSHOLES GARAGE", but I don't ever call the garage anything other than "The Garage". It was a gag gift from a former pit crew worker who worked for the township road department.

I just tell the family I'm going to my room. However a few years ago on the back of a boat in Alaska was the name "The Job Site". I guess whenever he got a call asking where he was he could truthfully say he was on the job site. Clever if you ask me. If I was to name my shop I think I would use that. "I'm at the job site,

The romantic hills of central Umbria, Italy,
Mine's Lassen Forge, because that's (kinda) what it was for it's first 100 years in existence (a Smithy), the people we bought it from restored it but turned it into a storage shed and deer hanging locker, so we figured why not bring back and keep a good thing going? :D

(And yes, I can still hang a deer or 2 in it...)
