I rarely second guess..... however, with a first coat on the ceiling and end wall I am glad I went with grey, though black would have worked.
The thoughts and comments received, some based on experience and some on opinion made sense.

I posted this image of my shop. It was the best photo I could fund that showed the lighting, wall/ceiling color and floor

It was taken within a week of my car coming out of loooong-term storage to start its restoration in April 2021.

I am in my shop 6-7 days a week -- retirement is GOOD

Nothing fancy, thinking I'd applying a good cement sealer.
Maybe Siloxa-Tek 8505.

I think even dark grey is an improvement. I have dark grey semi-gloss and the only place I am lacking light is the under cars on the lift.

If you think black shows dust, white will show way more. that is ultimately why I went for an alternate.

No offense, but that is way too much shop and lift for fixing that fan!

I couldn't quite see anything in the plaque, but a Grand Sport of that year must be pretty rare. That's gotta be the ultimate Riv!

They are a little imposing as a project car for me due to the sheer amount of special "stuff" (usually lots of options on those) and the limited repro/NOS/used parts supply compared to some stuff.

Beautiful car. Those aren't really my "type" in general, but specifically (like early Torandos and suicide-door Lincolns), it is a model I love!

I recently have been working thru various electrical issues on my Rivi (cabin lights, horn, windows) - decidedly my automotive weak suit.
I made contact with a guy who knows cars and has 8x Buick Riviera Gran Sports. He has a few mountains of spares

I'm traveling so I can't upload a picture. I recently finished a new shop. The walls are light gray painted with a product called Scuff-X from Benjamin Moore. It's practically indestructible. I coat the top my motorcycle lift with it. It holds up to gas oil, even brake fluid. Yes, I tested it against the competing Sherwin Williams product (I used to own a painting company). The loft ceiling is sprayed with a product called Dry Fall, flat black. The beams and joists are exposed. The upper ceiling is finished with wallboard and painted ceiling white.

Under the flat black ceiling I have a bunch of those high intensity saucer lights and it's almost too bright.

We painted a number of basement ceilings with exposed conduit and joists flat black and I never had a customer come back and said it was too dark.
