WHERE
This project is taking place in rural Western Kentucky.

WHAT
I'm wanting to add a garage / shop / "gathering" point near my house -- what I've decided to build is a 30 x 40 shop, with 10' ceilings having three 10x9 insulated bay doors, four standard double-hung windows, and two standard metal entry doors.

To further accommodate the "gathering" point requirement, I've decided on two 12x30x10 covered, gabled porches.

The building will be covered entirely in metal to match the house best as possible, including a white metal ceiling on all areas (shop, and porches).

Concrete will be poured at least 4" thick throughout the entire area of the building while allowing for a single drain point in the center of the shop, including a full length apron extending 10' to the front.

PROGRESS
As of 08/29/2010, the shop is built and is ready for the extensive "inside finishing". I've started hanging OSB on the inside, and plan to trim all windows, posts, etc with OSB as well.

Great build, really like the 2 overhangs on the ends. What are your plans for those areas?

Nice shop, but I have to ask why you put your roof on before the walls. How are you going to trim out the eave(where the walls meet the roof).

Thanks all for the comments. Still a lot left to do, got some other pictures will post in a few.

Thanks -- the plans for those are to use for a cookout area, hangout, etc. Or to keep my truck under -- not really 100% sure yet.

Looks like a great space to hang out no matter what the weather. Pretty cool that is for sure. I love all your open space you have. I wish I had more property, but I guess if you want city living, you got to give up something.

Nice place, can't wait to see what you do with the inside.

Really nice shop/hang out area man! Did you build it all yourself or have someone put it up? If its not being to nosey roughly how much $$ did you have it it all?

I paid for the overall "dry in", I'm doing all the interior myself. And my dad and I did the electrical, plumbing, all the trenching, final-grading, etc.

It was $23,000 total for as it is now.

I just went to Lowes the other day @ around 2145 and got $530 worth of OSB (36 pc) and Polysyrene insulation (25 pc). The next day (at a decent hour lol) when the commercial sales reps were there I called to see if I could get the ticket discounted at all, they ended up discounting $283 -- so all that OSB and poly insulation was really cheap!

Thowle, great looking shop you have there. I really like the two open ends, they could be use for most anything, nice outside grill /dinning area, just hanging out with the guys and having a few cool ones or park another vehicle. Great idea and a very flexible usage area.

I'm looking forward to following the progress on the inside. I envy all the folks on this board that have so much land. Your place is awesome

Will post up some pictures tonight of the inside - but tonight and tomorrow will be putting down Epoxy-Coat! In a way, dreading it -- not sure what to expect; hope all goes smooth and good!

So here are some before and after pictures of the floor.

It turned out "okay" -- it has some flaws, but all in all it is a floor. EpoxyCoat seems to be good stuff, have not pulled a car in it yet but I suspect it will work out well.

It was in between a pain in the *** and easy to coat/install.

Looking real nice! I like the ceiling and am considering the same for my shop. Did you put any insulation on top of it? From many other posts I hear a lot of concern about condensation/dripping from metal ceilings...any concerns about that?

Have not put any insulation on top yet, plan to get a blower and blow insulation all above. No issues with condensation yet.
