Thanks...Looking at that basement, I should have bought stock in Great Stuff Foam.
That's a great transformation you've done.

Does it say, I'm sorry Bob. I'm afraid I'm can't do that?Eric, my home network seems to have built-in AI. I get everything working one day and it all goes south the next day. Maybe it's not AI but at least AS (Artificial Stupidity). I end up doing so many different things to fix it that I forget which one worked to fix the problem. I suspect it has something to do with my network having dynamic IP address.

Thanks. Slow process and it's not an everyday thing.Basement is looking great Eric.
Boy does that bring back memories..... going to be a nice useful improvement.
So I gathered the top piece for the welding table a while back... couple years ago. Things got hectic with work and it got put off.I didn't want an actual lift table but just part of it, the top. Have you priced steel lately ? This top is 48"x60"x 1/2" thick. Looking online I found prices any where from $750 to over $1K. So any thoughts what this top plate is going to be used for ? One hint, I won't be cutting it down to size, the current size will be (should be) perfect for my garage.

I should have built it years ago when steel was cheaper. However, it will last for a very long time, probably longer than I will be around.OUCHIES!

40 grit, tried 80 grit, wire wheel and another composite disc. Trying to see what works best.Oh my, I didn't realize steel had gone up that much, sadly if you want to do a project in steel there really isn't much option. I don't envy you stripping the plate, are you using a rough grit flap disc or something else?

We're in single digits right now. I'm not doing it outside.Have you tried moving it outside and then dousing it in muriatic acid? That stuff is supposed to take mill scale right off. If that paint is over mill scale maybe the paint will come off with the scale?
I wanted it flat but a little bit over...I don't see any blood on the floor so I call that a win even if you didn't want it on the floor that flat......
I was trying to walk it away from the wall. As soon as it went just a bit too far, I just let it go...Glad nothing worse happens. Since its still in the same side up/out, I'm assuming it slid down the wall and didn't fall forward. The fall forwards are the ones everyone tries to catch and bad things happen.
We had a new guy who tried to catch a 300-400# bearing that started to fall off the bench away from him in the test labs and he got thrown across the bench and several feet past the part. His trainer reamed him a new one. "Let it fall! It's just metal. We can get a new one. I don't want your death on my conscious!" That always stuck with me.
A pair of lace up Georgia 8" brown leather boots with lug sole, non-insulated and non-steel toe. My daily home work boots. What style of foot ware did you have on during the move?
Smart. So many people will try to save something and end up hurt. I would have walked around in a circle for at least an hour after that.I was trying to walk it away from the wall. As soon as it went just a bit too far, I just let it go...
I should have built it years ago when steel was cheaper.
There's time's I wished I would have kept my open trailer. However I would rather have something with at least 5K axles than the 3500lb axles mine came with.I feel the say way about my open trailer Eric, should have built it years ago when steel was less expensive.
The table is coming along nicely by the way.
Unplanned reinforcement. That's what I'm thinking Mike. Besides, it will help straighten out the top plate when it goes on.... I hope.Look on the bright side Eric, that will be stronger now having another crossmember.Unplanned reinforcement.
