I have a general idea of how the welding cart is going to get done but some of it is still a figure out as built.

All the pieces cut ground and ready to be tacked together. This is of course the bottom side.

EDIT: I should add, these are just the base pieces, not all the pieces for the entire cart. I did cut the vertical uprights as I wasn't sure if I was going to have enough tube, even after buying an entire 24' stick.

Since this was my day off and the coolest day in the last 2 weeks, I decided to get some work on the welding cart.

I started clamping down y bottom frame...I realized this morning that I need more clamps for the welding table.

KIMG2827.JPG

As I was finishing it up, I got toned in for hazmat spill and that took up about 3 hours of my day.
Once I finished up the bottom piece I set up and welded the vertical y cross pieces.

Then I had to call it a day and went in the house, leaving it for some garage time tomorrow.

Welded the vertical uprights in place today. KIMG2829.JPG

Sat around trying to decide about a bottle mount and how to do it.

This is the plan for the top shelf.

KIMG2830.JPG

Went in the house, ate lunch, and then spent a couple of hours mowing the yard. A quick project in the house and off to work a 15 hour shift at work. It butts up to my shift so no more progress till Friday... I hope I can work on it Friday...

That’s why now we have Central AC in the house….I put AC in the garage like a few have done around here. Gonna insulate and finish off with wallboard. Tired of moving it in and out.80215F64-54D0-4EBF-B779-7D8A01220455.jpeg
I've got a portable AC unit but it's not big enough for the garage, especially with the way it's cut up with 3 different sections.

If it was one big open area of the same sq footage, I think it'd be quite different.
That is part of the reason I don't want to spend the money on a mini split for here.

I'm at this point of how/ where to run the MC cable to keep it safe.. no plasma cutter arc hitting it, keeping grinding debris off it or catching a welding clamp on it.

KIMG2846.JPG

I believe what I am going to do is weld a piece of sq tube under the rails for the plasma table. I'll run the MC cable through it as a precaution.

Been at work last two days and going to be there, at least the next two days so I need to get the yard mowed, cutting garage time short ...

The reel originally came with a 25' hose, I'm replacing it with a 35 footer.
Eric, I'm a Flexzilla fan boy as well. I replaced the 50' 3/8" hose that came with the reel with a 50' 1/2" Flexzilla hose and the 25' 3/8" hose on the smaller reel with a 25' 1/2" Flexzilla hose as well. I do have to be a little more careful letting the hose retract but it fits just fine. The bigger hose keeps the air tools and HVLP guns supplied with all the air they need.

Second welding table outlet completed. As mentioned above, I used a piece of sq tubing and welded it underneath the table. Then fed the MC through it and made the connections. Checked all four outlets with a meter and good to go, with the exception of needing some paint.

KIMG2866.JPG

Once the outlet was completed, I continued to make some progress on the cart. . . still slow progress as I figure out more as I go. I welded the middle shelf in place then added the back piece. You can't see them here but I welded on the front swivel casters to set the final cart height.

Welding the back plate in and front casters needed done so I could set the location of the rear casters. You can see here, I'm trying to mock up their location.

These are the top mount plates for the rear casters. This is just one of the few times I've used this drill press that I bought last year. I'm really starting to like this thing. To the right of the table, you can see the new oil can ( Thanks to HJE '25) sitting in a HF can holder. . . . works pretty good as a repurpose.

I was going to hear, bend and weld a piece of steel over the edge of the bottle mount. Then I had an idea.... auto door trim.

KIMG2896.JPG

A quick search lon O'Reilly's website and a trip to the store, I have these.

KIMG2895.JPG

Then I moved on to the wheel tubs. I wanted to weld them on the inside as it will half the cart weight and the all of the bottle weight.

I wanted some black oxide eye bolts that were for sale at TSC.... online, in stock last night and this morning...some must have changed or updated as I was trying to find them in store.

Out of stock and no longer available at most stores....argh. But some close enough at another place. I picked up some chain and other items for the bottle retention.

Mocked up.
