OP
Ohhhh Cam.... you spoke too soon my friend, ...more to come.Holy **** Eric, what have you gone and done now?!
![]()
Yes I do have to "go for it" as in pick it up.Well, you have to go for it to justify the tooling you picked up!
Well..... I didn't get out bid on the first auction, lathe, and if I was going that far, I needed to make sure it was worth the drive... So I bid higher on the mill.Yup, that need didnt last long.
Congrats Eric![]()
I don't have them yet, but there is a road trip planned for the next few days coming up.Congrats on the new toys...er...tools you've added to the shop.
JB
Tooling I bought is from a different auction. That was a road trip to New York.I don't see the compound slide for the lathe - if it's onsite, make sure you get it. There must have been another lathe onsite - that tooling appears to be for a much larger lathe.
Thanks Mike, this stuff has been on the list for awhile, not just high priority. I've always kept my eye out, trying to find a good deal.Eric, you will soon discover how vastly your world just changed by having machining capabilities in your shop. Congrats. Looking forward to seeing them set up in your shop.

These are not them, these came from The University of Alabama. Those lathe and mill should serve you well. My friend had the same or nearly the same models back shortly after we graduated high school that he put in his parents basement. For a minute I was wondering if those were his since they're in NE Ohio. We made a lot of paintball gun parts on those. Mill was pretty solid. Lathe took a little finesse to keep the chatter at bay in certain materials. Definitely not the precision and rigidity of a monarch or hardinge but pretty good for the size and price.

My wife would probably hate me if I did the same thing. Funny thing is, after I pulled out of the building after loading up and starting to tie it down and wrap it for the ride home, another guy showed up to pick up his auction purchases. He said something about it, I didn't pay much attention but the wife talked to him for a minute. My wife hates this, but I'm the guy that will walk up to you while you are fueling up and congratulate you on a beautiful payload!
What did it cost you to pay him off to do that?My wife would probably hate me if I did the same thing. Apparently, he had bid on the mill (and possibly the lathe too) and told the wife that I got a good deal for what I paid for it. I guess that might have put the wife's mind at ease seeing and hearing from a complete stranger that I did well on my purchase. .. . not that see really cares.

Nothing and maybe, unknowingly, he's a member here. . . . Just another guy trying to cover another guy's back when it comes to buying tools. What did it cost you to pay him off to do that?![]()

I found out last duty day,(Wednesday) that the time frame of next Summer is going to be wrong. The Capt that is due to be retiring June-August time frame isn't retiring at that time.@LXCam just a heads up. Test scores came back, three of us Lts took the test, all passed and the scores fell how they fell. I came in second, so the guy that got 1st will get promoted probably next week. When next summer rolls around and the other Capt retires, I'll pick up Capt.
The #1 guy beat me by one question on a 100 question test. If we would have tied, I would have gotten the nod as I have a spot on him in seniority.

He's actually moving his date up and will be done in January. He's basically running out his accumulated leave that he has on the books. His last day on shift will be November 14th. I will get my second bugle in January rather than Summertime. Chief said he was ordering my shield and badge this past week.
Fortunately for the young guys, Firefighters, that means two of them will be getting promoted to Lt in January after their promotional exam. For those guys, he has to wait to see scores what on the exam before he orders badges/shields. We have our badge number incorporated on them.
Kickass Eric, congratulations!I found out last duty day,(Wednesday) that the time frame of next Summer is going to be wrong. The Capt that is due to be retiring June-August time frame isn't retiring at that time.

Congrats on the early bump!
Kickass Eric, congratulations!
Congratulations Eric, well deserved!
Thanks guys. I wasn't trying to toot my own horn but rather just give an update.Congrats to you Eric!

Congrats Eric.I will get my second bugle in January rather than Summertime. Chief said he was ordering my shield and badge this past week.
I came to work today to see the official notification for the eligible Firefighters that they are testing for Lt.Congrats Eric.
At least your department makes notification about promotions.
I got a letter from thr Fire Chief being promoted to Technician (driver),
Nothing for Lieutenant or Captain, I did get a call from the Chief when I was promoted to Battalion Fire Chief.
Now they get a call and a multimedia blitz on Facebook on any kind of promotion/achievemnt.
Now you get another 6 months of adding to the OT and DROP accounts.

Celebrity? Who's the that around here ??Yes! Pretty dang cool that I get a thumbs up from a celebrity!
Could the knockout be sized for a hard plastic bushing, with a compression fit on a 16ga cord? That's how my cheap fluorescent tube fixtures were wired, but they came with wire installed at the factory.I get the fixture out of the box and look at the knock out on the end .. WTF size is this? I'm not sure if my finger will fit in the hole.
Yeah, very possible. It would probably be "okay" in most situations but inside the blast cabinet, I don't want an exposed cord.Could the knockout be sized for a hard plastic bushing, with a compression fit on a 16ga cord? i know this fixture has no issues.
