Awesome build/thread! I just read this entire thread from the beginning and didnt want to post until i finished it. You have a great work ethic and great skills even though you deny it most the time lol.
I love old buildings. I used to work in an old service garage when i was in highschool with a leaky hydraulic lift that would drop a few inches every so often! That was fun.. Couldnt beat the character of the building though. Anyways, congrats on such a great build. And btw, what are the overall dimensions on this building? I dont believe i saw them in the thread.
Good morning Eric.
thought I would check in today and see whats new
havent been here since you were rebuilding the chimney
so now I am caught up again and you are still working like a machine
the place is looking real good!!! (no great)
I feel the need to go work on my garage after hanging out here
for a while
thanks for the inspiration
Don

Sorry I'm on page 20 and just cant wait to ask my burning question: Why all the love for the garage and none for the wood burner? Surely there's something you could do for the old heap?
Just caught up - man this looks like more work than a build from scratch would be. Would you be willing to share the cost of this undertaking?

hi. today is my first day as a member, and as my first reply I would like to tell you that you have an amazing work in progress. keep up the good work
Its 1:15 AM here in Spring,TX. My lower back hurts from sitting on this bar stool. Im tired, my eyes hurt from looking at my laptop for the past three hours, but I gotta say reading your thread was worth it. Great job! I wish I had half your skills!

Great work, the shops come a long way.
All the firring strips tap-conned on awaiting the next step, stryrofoam insulation.
Are you going to cut board to fit between the furring strips?
OT, if your wall were wood but you were spacing out the vinyl siding with insulation to better match preexisting window/door moldings, would you do the same thing with the strips of furring or would you use longer nails which would go into the exterior sheeting?
Excellent thread! ...and kudos on a job well done. It's pretty cool to see an old shop get used for your personal shop. I can't wait to see how the inside turns out.
one question though... I don't seem to recall seeing a picture of that amazing doughnut you keep referring to and describing. The suspense is killing me!

Nice work.
Just spent all morning reading this thread, I feel tired for you!
Whew, gonna call it a day.

I'll be cutting some styrofoam down to fit between the furring strips. When that is done, it'll get foil faced OSB glued and screwed into the furring strips. The vinyl siding will get nailed to that.

I like bats, believe it or not. However, I have not been that close to one!!! Interesting thread, in many ways.
. . . . Then it'll be her -->
<-- me.
It is all turning out very nice, Eric. Actually spent some time yesterday going through your thread from the beginning. Lot's of work completed and clearly lots of pride in ownership on the project.
Looking forward to all the next additions to your thread.
Ody.

If you put a bathouse somewhere on your property, they might help you out with keeping your mosquitoe population down...

The bat was probably just 'hanging out' till the chimney was done to take up residence inside it for the winter. Looks like a SS cap and screen is in order for the chimney. lol
The bat house is a great idea; sell it to the Mrs. by emphatically stating that bat guano is a terrific fertilizer for all her plants! Good luck with that.
