Garage Setup questions

Setting up my first garage and thought this forum could get me headed in the right direction. The garage is 7000sqft on 1st floor and 5000 sqft on 2nd floor, the 2nd floor is not shown on the floor plan below and will only be used for storage. I am in the process of finishing the install on my 10K Rotary lift and converted all lights in the rotary lift room to LED. My next job is to install the 80gal Air Compressor and plumb in the air lines. My first question is where would you recommend I install the Air compressor - I feel like two locations make sense. I have shown both locations on the floor plan of the shop below - Air here? and Or Air here? - The 1st location is where the compressor sits currently in the pictures on the link below. The 2nd location is next to the outside A/C unit and would require a cover to be built, but luckily a concrete slab already exists there.

The way I see it:

1st location - Pros - more centrally located - already has cover
Cons - noise is closer to work area

2nd location - Pros - moves noise further away
Cons - requires more air line plumbing, requires cover to be built

Thanks for the help,
David

Outside. It's worth the extra hassle to not listen to it. Mine is in an enclosed 12x18 lean-to that houses my lawn care and other yard bs. I have to listen closely to hear it run.

Absolutely outside....I hate listening to compressors run. Tell me how you're building a 7000 sq ft shop, and you might be worried about running a little more air line?!?!

Put that thing in a compressor shed outside.

The shop came with the house, shop was built in 1980, I got lucky. :)
So outside it is.....copper or iron pipe???
I am leaning towards iron pipe....thinking 1" main line (due to line being 110') with 3/4" drops?

How big a comp? I like to stick with 3/4, at that distance it will be fine for automotive (as would 1/2 iron) and still support multiple users. The only reason for 1/2 drops is you got to downsize it at some point. I would go outside if I could and or build cover. I like to just barely hear it run. Mine didn't sound right a while back, bearing in the motor.

Lean it downhill just a pinch and let the air drive any water to the next drop. Too big of pipe in horizontal lines is great for condensate but the flow may slow as not to drive drops.

What about putting it in the 2nd floor storage area? You wouldn't have to build a shelter for it and you're going to run lines anyway so it may be no big deal to run them through the floor/ceiling to the 1st floor.
