Anyone else has experience with Pinder Versatool Cabinets ??? Any website with info in the US (I only found the UK one - mfg directly) and no mention of dealers int eh US. The article mentions Garage Outfittters as the dealers but there are 1000's of businesses with that name.

MAK, if you do decide to get a Cobra, in any form or model, call or drop me a note. I've been a builder /dealer for over 30 years!
DV

Unfortunately that will probably be a few years down the road. A couple other money pits to finish along with some other bills to pay... not to mention getting another garage built.
What manufacturer do you represent? Didn't I see that Ford has a new 427 crate engine out?

Mak, I am strictly independant. Always have been. When I first started each company wanted you to be strictly pro-priotary, but for many reason I refused. I sell more 'Classic Roadsters' than all the others combined but I do do, FFR, A&C, Hunter, Shell Valley,Kirkham (rarely) Mid States, etc.

The block shown below is kind of Fords new hi-tech crate motor. I'm not sure about a new Ford 427 though. I do know that a new 427 aluminum block is available as a pricey option. Personally my heart lies with using the other snake motor :) The Viper GTS V-10.

I can't tell you the number of guys that have told me to 'open her up' on a test ride and I ask them if they really want me to do that? Most say heck yes, I've driven fast Vets, GTO's, Mopars all my life. I will then feed the throttle fairly fast through second gear and watch their reaction out of the corner of my eye. When they hit their maximum 'Oh sheet' look, I slam 3rd and nail it. After the normal 'fish-tailing' and tire burning, along with the absolute roar from the sidepipes, I'll run it up to around 120 or so and then get out of it.

I have had more than one old hot-rodder get out of the car with the front of his pants wet! :bounce:

Ever seen a Ford 9" housing broke in half? I mean the housing! Left the gears on the pavement, (National Trails- Columbus, Oh.) with no damage to the gears what so ever. Racing Vipers at the Chrysler Nationals and came out of the hole a little to hot! (Around 5,100 RPM.)

Oh heck! I didn't meant to get off topic, back to the regular posted thread! ;)
DV
PS.. Ken! I never put 2&2 together! How the heck are ya? Wendy is doing great with a long hard road in front of her. Hope all is well with your and yours!

Mak,
That's how I got the name - "Double Venom" or DV for short. The wife named it, when I got done with the first one. A nice mated mix of a Viper and a Cobra ;)

Nice article but I'd stay away from UCoat IT

A differing opinion. Not me! I've seen this installed in an automotive shop, battery storage room. Always has around 1000 batteries in stock. Lots of acid spills, dirt, etc. This stuff held up extremely well for over 10 years. I personally believe it's all in the application and making sure you don't have moisture rising through the cement.

Luke,
All my 'Double Venom' models, whether they are a stock DV or a DVII use a 'Classic Roadsters' kit. Humongus frames, door hinges are solid 5/8' steel plates and lots of leg room. No mods for a stock DV except notch the frame a little to fit the T-56 ******. DV II's now that's another story, can be built for GT2 SCCA, or one very, very serios drag machine.

The purple one shown ,(Dupont's Chromalusion) with the tilt nose, has a highly modified GTS V-10 in it, with well over 700 real RWHP. Motor dyno'd around 740 HP, designed and built by me. Roy at "TNT" motorsports supplied all the goodies. I like to tell the story about the first time this one was on the track at Putnam in Indiana. Nick, the owner opened it up coming out of the last turn, the nose came up, the front suspension unloaded and never setteled back down for the entire straight! Need less to say I did some real quick front suspension adjustments! :willy_nil

All I use of the Viper is the motor, transmission and radiator, all new, along with the Viper harness, PCM, etc. Livorsi makes the custom guages for me.

What the heck, here's a couple of pictures of the 9" I destroyed racing in the 'Chrysle Nationals'.

Hard to tell from the pic but it looks like some gauling on the pinion bearing. Any chance that it froze and then twisted the pinion and housing out?

DV- Damn, that's badass. How much are the double venom's weighing in at? I love the front tilt hood.

Gearhead1,
I think what looks like galling, was a result of the pinion going crooked when it came apart. I hand-held it together and it still spun like crazy. It simply couldn't take the torque. 'THE' Mr. Jegs was in the tower when it happened, came down and looked at it. Said he had seen many rear ends 'blown' over the years but had never seen a housing torn in half!

Luke; This DV II was built for Street/SCCA use. After dozens of conversations with them about the car, class etc. they told us it had to weigh in at least 3,300 lbs. When we were done it hit 3,378 lbs., with a 48/52 weight ratio.

Normally the final weight is closer to 2,700 with a 50/50 weight ratio and has darned near identical corner weights with a 190- lb. driver. It would be a simple matter to shave around 300 lbs. off the car but anymore than that, then we would start running into safety issues.

DV, do you have a website? My boss has been waffling back and forth between a Cobra or a MOPAR for about a year now.
This could solve his dillema.

Or at a minimum, I could raise his blood pressure a bit more. I do that once in a while with a nice "for sale" ad on a Challenger or CUDA. :D

Dodgecharger,
No Sir, sorry. I have never advertised, been in a few magazines though. Just about anyone that is in the Viper, Cobra or hi-end streetrod world know of me. Any more I work strictly as a 'Ya, I'd love to do that type customization!' Sounds a little arrogant I know, but after 35 years of building custom cars, a guy should be able to be a little picky :)

Next Firday I have the sweetest '67 427 (trips) fastback Vette coming in to have the old 'mako' flares taken off and originals put back on. All black too. This will be a fun project!

DV...Now if I could talk Shannon into moving up north! I do like his interiors and the cars he works on!
