Garage Wall Storage System

Hello everyone. I am new to the board here. I have read alot before just never posted.

I searched the forum already but I didn't see this posted before. If it has been and my search results didnt catch it.. please let me know.

I am looking for a garage wall storage system. Something to hang and store my tools. Mainly things like... 20 lb step ladder, shovel, rack, weed eater, blower, snow shovels, etc. The heaviest thing is the step ladder around 20 lbs and then next heaviest would be the weed eater around 8 lbs.

I am looking for a panel storage instead of a strip. For example, I want to avoid hanging a shovel on a strip system and it touching the wall at the lower end of the wall.

I have seen a few out there and I was wondering if anyone had good results with any of them?

I have the Wall Control system. I like it a lot. It is very good looking and has *lots* of flexibility. You can use both their hooks and attachments as well as standard pegboard hooks.

Err good question. I try to have all six screws (per panel) going into studs. That works in general if your studs are 16" on center. Heavier shelves are attached at multiple points to distribute the load.

I'd say the heaviest I have put on a single shelf is roughly 20-30 lbs. My guess is that they can support up to about 50 lbs on hooks - not sure about the shelves. I'd check the web site for the real ratings though first.

Yeh, I will check website.... just wanted to see real world testing..... to see the load and that the lab testing they do. Scenarios are different with real world testing. Thanks for your help though!

I used Gladiator Gearwall; I like it.

There is a special on wall storage systems in Wood Magazine in a double issue. They cover slatwall, the best way to cut it; they also review pegboard etc. etc....the stuff you guys drool over!

Someone left it outside in their cart at Lowes so I got lucky!

My garage has metal wall brackets for adjustable shelves that also hold pegboard between brackets. Not sure if they still make it but it works great because there are so many ways to move it around.
I still need to work on taking full advantage of the combo but it's in the background in the photo here

I have gridwall on one side of my garage. Super sturdy. I've got hundreds of pounds of yard tools, ladders and shelves hanging on it. Also, there is a wide variety of hooks and shelves for it.

Added benefit--it's much MUCH cheaper than any kind of slatwall product and holds more weight.

Yes - new - and relatively inactive user.
It's one of the better PVC walls - strong, easy installation easy to customize.

It works with conventional slatwall accessories which is an advantage if you want to spend less.
