My dad was a Mechanic. I started helping him in the Garages where he worked at age 11. Back then that was how a young person learned a trade. I became a Mechanic and I worked in Garages. Today a Dad can't teach his son his trade because of insurance companies rules.
Well I have always considered a Garage to be a place where a Mechanic repaired cars, trucks, farm equipment, etc.
But, in today's world I do not even know what a garage is. What most people call a Garage has nothing to do with repair.
It irritates me, to no end, for people to call a room attached to their house with overhead doors, that they park a vehicle in, a Garage.
