I bought a 50' garden hose from Walmart last summer. Now it's getting "*****". I get about 4 or 5 kinks on that hose. I use the hose mostly for washing my cars. Which garden hose is best and doesn't do any kinks? Also which nozzle is best for a car wash?

Thanks

I decided to give they "Bionic flex hose" a try 3 years ago. I liked it so much I bought a second 50'. And, it has brass fittings!
It isn't stiff like conventional hoses, you can maneuver it anywhere and the hose doesn't steer you. I always drain it after use, it doesn't take up much space.

I use a rubber hose. It will kink but less. My father was a military officer who served aboard ships. If you are going to pull hose out quickly treat it as a rope. Either put it on a reel or figure 8 it when you store it. Those are the only two methods I know that reduce the twisting that causes kinks.

A few years ago I bought and eventually returned EVERY SINGLE garden hose Home Depot sold. They ALL kinked either immediately or eventually.

I’m now using the corrugated aluminum hoses that are smaller diameter. Can’t say I’m all that happy with them but they do not kink. You CAN ruin them by running over them with your car or even stepping on them hard where they cross over themselves.

I recently returned a Goodyear hose, well branded Goodyear to HD. Swan was the manufacturer if I am not mistaken. A ***** mess and eventual leaker at the hose bibb connection.

Alright thanks for your advice - I'll research on Apex, Eley, Bionic and rubber hoses.

What about a nozzle that is easier for me to use - to spray on my car and shut-it-off when not in use?

Cheap hoses are expensive to own.
Especially cheap Air hoses! My buddies shop had an air hose blow in the hanger last year. 3 guys all tried to catch it but it went straight up! As it whipped around, it went across BOTH windshields on a Citation jet. Cost over 60grand to sort that one out!

It's -2* here in Illinois right now. I'd take 37* any day. I've found that the hoses will kink less or not at all if you leave the water turned on.
Ugh. Too cold for me. I washed my car today, it was 75 degrees highs. That is when I started to complain about my garden hose with too many kinks. Don't know why it does, even in warmer weather.

It’s a very ***** hose
The kind you cant expect to water
And It will always let your garden down
Like a dead snake on the street

It’ll go limp in your hand
It’s definitely not my favorite
And when you try to move it you’ll know its the wrong tool
It never aims to please

That hose is pretty *****
That hose is super cheap!
I’d really like to return it
Every time I see it.

That hose is pretty mild now

I have a black rubber craftsman hose from the 90's that is awesome.
I have 2 of them, 50' from the mid to late 80's. Just ad functional as the day I bought them although I've replaced an end or 2 over the years. They got drivin over.
There are some nice quality replacement "ends" available if you do a little looking.

I really like this nozzle.
The controller works very well. We have one of them on an expanding/shrinking hose and you can leave the nozzle at a slow drip so the hose will drain. Beats the heck out of holding on to it until the hose shrinks. Also, when retracting a hose onto a reel or pulling it your self, the controller doesn't hook onto everything it gets near.

I have 3 50' rubber hoses from the mid 90's that are still in great condition almost kink free. They do make your hands black when putting them away now though. I use the adjustible spray pattern trigger type nozzles, they last a couple of years and usually get wrecked from dropping them on the driveway. I also had a "kink proof" hose. It didn't kink but also didn't straighten out when using it. I threw it out as it was incredibly frustrating to use. I'd rather deal with kinks, if you know it's a kinker you'll use it accordingly to prevent kinks. :)

I like Flexzilla. I've got some that stay outside all year, and they're still flexible, even after several years of abuse.
I could see myself buying flexzilla and liking it. I bought a bunch of their tubing for the air supply on my sand blast cabinet and it is top notch product.

I've had a 100 foot Flexzilla hose for a few years now. It doesn't kink, and I like the fittings. The only drawback is that their yellow covering stains pretty easily, but most people aren't going to be concerned with that.

I agree about the staining but the one thing I like is they seem to not blacken your hands. Dirty stuff yes, but not broken down rubber...

Flexzilla here. They are very "rubbery" and hard to kink. I had the outer cover split on one of mine and they sent me a free replacement. Lifetime warranty.
Only negative is the lime-green outer cover will get stained after a few years.

THE best hose I ever had lasted well over 25 years. I bought it at Costco and it was light gray. Had brass fittings and kinking was never an issue. So when I finally needed a new one I went to Costco and they had green ones with aluminum fittings. It was heavy, unwieldy and eventually *****. I was very disappointed.

I found a 100' rubber Craftsman w/the good ends. The current 75' at over 20 years old, will replace one of the cheapo hoses at the back of the house and the new 100' will go out front by the garage.

The best hose I have ever used was an industrial grade hose my employer purchased from an industrial supply house. When I asked what it cost I was told “don’t worry about it, we charged it to the job”
