One thing I'll add is I bet you will be happy with the 62* set point because at 50* the catch up time would be quite longer, I presume. My minis like to maintain temps with smaller temp adjustment changes, but they don't blast temps up or down super fast ime.

Lowest set temp that I know:

Pioneer: 47 freeze protection mode, next lowest 62
Daikin: 50 out of the box, 1 degree increment thru 85 or so.
Mitsubish: 50 "SmartSet" mode, next lowest 61. external thermostat MHK1 can override

You wouldn't be anymore efficient running that low compared to 62. What I'm saying is that because of the way the unit is designed, it would cost about the same to maintain 50 as it would 62.

The nice thing about gas is that you can let it ride at 35F (or so) and then ramp it up to 50 or even 70 while you work

Most gas heaters will state they don't want the heater cycling to those low temps. It causes too much fatigue in the heat tubes causing them to crack. Most want 50 degrees or similar.

Anybody use the Thermocore brand Mini splits?

Looking at heating my 38x40 garage in the PNW garage has 16 Ft ceilings. It gets down to 25 at times in the winter and close to 90 in summer time..

They state their remotes wont allow anything lower than a 62 degree temp setting

Was hoping the Honeywell D6 thermostat would be adaptable.
