Re: 4,by four,for four

Oh yeah blasting those parts is about the only way to do it right. I thought about doing lots of changes to it. From air bags , disc brakes, all new paint and a V-8 with turbo 400. The problem is the car is really rare, they were all hand/custom made. I think one of the experts on professional cars told me there are less then 5 of this year made by National Hearse Co. So I'm trying to keep it the way it was, and trying not to make any changes that would be noticeable. Some of the parts are hard to find, but if I had to make something fit in order to keep it running I would try and go with the next best thing. One side would really like to gangster it out. I have had people say I should put all these skulls and dead people stuff, and I'm sure if someone else owned it, it would probably been chopped up:shocking:
So JB are you making the blast cabinet, or did you buy one?

I understand now and you are correct I'd be hard pressed to change it from how they made it. As you saw in my thread I'm making my cabinet, we will see if it turns out to be a complete failure or not soon enough.

Re: 4,by four,for four

I just acquired some new license plates. These are from Illinois, and appear to be dealer plates. Most of them have the same number, year after year. I also have some 666 to add to the collection. Check out the "In GOD we Trust"
This was at a car show, man that's a lot of doors

This collection is awesome. I would like to have these license plates.

Thanks for visiting my spot. Oh yeah I've been blessed with some cool license plates. Many have come from friends and family, so have come from friends from far away. Those are the ones that I cherish the most. I have some from Rian or Grizz1963 from the UK, some from down under Australia. I haven't meet a license plate that I don't like, people on the other hand:dunno: (not really).
I have lots of plates that aren't even out of the boxes, need to get them displayed. Hopefully when I get the walls up, this will happen. thanks, check back and reply often.

Re: 4,by four,for four

well got a few more lights wired up, thanks to JB. The problem is they are a different color of L.E.D. They have a cooper looking light and don't match the bright white ones. I have a e-mail to the company on this. It may be ****, but that's me sometimes. I like what I like!
Now I have a armadillo out tearing up my yard. Anyone know how to relocate without killing?

here are something you don't see everyday? My cousin works at Raytheon (Beechcraft). These are carbon fiber composite business jet fuselage. The plant were going to demolish them.
The other is stuff I've acquired over the past. A 6ft.****, and some porcelain signs from a swap meet.

Hi Herb
Just checkin in to see whats new. and a 6' **** is new.
My wife wants me to put one on her chicken coop.
So you have had a few months holding those route 66 signs. Do you have them up yet? Your Green floor is different (Jury Is Out) Is this hearst you are talking about the one I questioned a few pages ago?

Glad to hear your lights are going up. Sure is nice having a friend taking interest in your stuff isn't it. Good for you JB

Re: 4,by four,for four

A few thoughts for you Herb, if your cousin has another of those fuselages we could make a Bonneville salt flats car. I have some spare cars we could use just to build something. ;)

You not only have a 6' ****, but you also have a laughing as...er donkey.

As for the armadillo, I've used the can cat food and put it in a live box trap, I picked mine up from Tractor Supply I think. Then just haul them down the road somewhere away from any other homes.

I'm glad the lights are still working and it doesn't look like those copper colored ones are going to brighten up like you'd hoped. If they send you the right colored ones I can come back up sometime and swap them out.

Don,
As for the hearse he'd mentioned currently I have it at my place doing some work on it. I've had a few side track jobs but will be getting back on it in a week or two. Hopefully I can have it running sometime early this summer.

That sounds like a joke there, a girl walks into a bar and sits down next to the 6' **** and a laughin donkey... the girl ask the donkey "hey, who are you voting for president" (someone else can add a finish)
The little green light , I bought at the swapmeet. I like it, something simple and unusual....like me:willy_nil

Don, thanks for stopping by my spot here.
You could probably find those ez enough in California, I think mine is an illegal chicken up from Mexico, they have several sizes. I think 6' is the tallest. I was wanting to put him up on the top of my barn, but with the hurricane type wind we have been having here in Kansas, I'm afraid he would end up in Nebraska!
The Hearst is at JB's round top. I'm trying to find the new battery I bought for it. I cannot believe I can't find it anywhere.:dunno:
JB... I wish those fuselage were like the drop tanks, I would love to have a belly tank car to drag main here in Winfield. Be cool to drive up to Sonic and get my happy hour tea!
Hey JB, you forgot to wire the outlets to the breaker box?? We must had some conversation going on:D

well OK, I'm still kickin. I've been trying to put some chippy board up on my walls. Lot of money and work. I started out with Menards 4 X 9' OSB close to 1/2".
I loaded my Tundra down with 30 sheets of the 4 X 9' OSB, 16 sheets of 4 X 8' styro foam insulation. I like this type because it has a foil on the back side and the other has a plastic clear film, plus 20 2 X 3"X 10' studs. Nice load on the truck.
The fun part of painting these boards with oil base primer, 2 to 3 coats because of the chippy board.

While I was on my Kubota tractor moving small things around in the barn, after jumping on and off about a dozen times, I noticed something shinney from the side of my eyes. After realizing what the hell it was, I jumped off the tractor while it was still moving. I had a co-piolet.
The next day I was in the barn moving some metal panels from the wall to another spot, and there she was again:dunno: I put a board in front of her so not to scare her

Re: 4,by four,for four

Next weve been dealing with the Kansas weather. I use to be with the civil defense and would go out spotting storms to call in and report to the Noaa and the TV channels. Well we had what we call SFC's, scarry F****** clouds. The storms were a brewin from Oklahoma and the clouds were a churnin and trying to drop a baby twister. But thankfully some cold air moved in and stopped it from getting strong. We did have some high winds and it did some damage to a grain bin about 6 miles from my house.

Re: 4,by four,for four

here 's a few more of the grain bins. They were all knocked down about 6 years ago, then they were re-designed and new supports, but a micro burst probably got this one.
I like to stop by our scrap yard at least once a week. I found a shelf, some license plates, and a bunch of walker jack parts. In a nice metal box was all the jack handle parts, I put it in my pile of stuff and told the guy I had to get my trailer and my stuff was in one place. Well when I got back, about 20 minutes, someone else took the metal box and dumped the parts out:mad: But you can see some neat stuff there, like the square blue post. There were 8 of them and they were about 12' tall, looks like they could bolt together. Ran out of money:mad:

As always, you find pretty cool stuff.

Tell me mor about the snake??

I am glad you did not harm her, they do great work mostly, unless we step on their tails.

Its a black snake, or rat snake. I bet it was close to 8 feet long. She has blue eyes:lol: I think she is still out in the barn, I haven't seen her in a few days. But its been getting cold here at night, around 40's, I think its too cold for them and they don't move very fast. I have lots of places for her to hide in the barn, I hope she continues to work. I have heard that they will kill the poisonous snakes?? need to read up on that.

Great score on the plates and Walker jack parts. Those clouds look oddly familiar. :) We got dumped on Tuesday night for a few hours, there was a lot of water over the roads in a few areas. We might want to start thinking about teaming up on building an ark. On the snake, have you seen a lot more this year than normal? I've probably seen more already this year than I did all of last year, and a couple about the same size as your new girlfriend there.

Just checking in tonight. Been missing your spot. Catching up since march

I think that I prefer an earth quake over your tornados
Had to chuckle about your tractor trainee

The shot of your building made me think of a circus tent

The place looks pretty big Great to see it coming together

Don, thanks for stopping by. Hope all is well with you.
Some days its like a big 3 ring circus:D I do have an odd assortment of critters that stop by or live out around the barn.
At least with tornado's it doesn't last long, but most quakes don't either. At least when the sky turns colors and the WIND STOPS blowing in Kansas, that's when the fun begins. With quakes, not much of a warning. Both can defiantly change the landscape and lives!
I've been watching you changing up on your collection of nautical stuff, seems fitting in California.

Well I came across a couple of cool signs at a antique shop. The prices weren't too bad cause they had things marked down 20%. I bought a sign that has a big red ball, not sure if its a Japan meatball, a Red Ball Express ( WWII), or what it came off of. It is porcelain, and heavy. Picture coming later, as my camera is in the barn and its too early to go out there.
NOTE: I have changed the name of my spot to GASHOLE GARAGE, as the 4, by four, for four has changed!

Don

Earthquakes and hurricanes hit everyone equally.

Tornadoes only hit a few here and there. I asked my wife several years ago whether she wanted a tornado shelter. Nope, not worried, we usually just go to bed. Never actually seen a tornado. Kind of like bears, kind of like to see one, but can do without it.

Be careful what you wish for.
I have been in both, when I lived in San Diego back in 1978 (NAVY), they had a big EQ that tore up roads and lots of damage. I remember feeling the ground shake and seeing things just barley moving around. A friend said, damn that's a EQ, it was a weird feeling and it happed fast and no warning.
I use to be in the Civil Defense and storm chaser for our area of Kansas. Now I've been in several tornado's, and they are scary:willy_nil exciting! They are just like most people report, like the ones that live in trailer parks, and they stand there and say" it was loud like a freight train" the winds make your ears pop. Then I ran to the shelter.
Most people will stand outside or in the door way and watch until its almost too late! Its like it posses you to watch, just can't take your eyes off of it.
At least most tornado's give some kind of warning. In Kansas, if its real hot and humid and the wind "ISN'T" blowing, then you better watch out. Usually the sky will have some weird colors of green, gray, or blues.

OK, I'm still kickin. Been working on the inside walls, and trying to finish up the metal on the west side. The weather has been really nice, so makin hay while the sun shines.
Here are a few pictures to get back up to date.
OK, any one know what the red ball sign is from? I'm hoping its either from Japan or something to do with the redball express from WWII.

Hi Herb,

Man, your garage is looking awesome! Also, I saw the red ball sign above, so I looked around a bit to see if it could be connected to WWII. I know the trucks had red balls on them, and I would imagine that there had to be signs like that along the route.

Thanks. The sign is porcelain and about 18" square, heavy!

Very nice shop. Where did you get the scaffold? That looks like refinery scaffolding.

It belongs to my cousin, He works at Beech, Raytheon, Cessna:headscrat whoever owns it now. His brother, sister and dad all worked there.
They had a big sale, not open to the public. Him and his dad bought A BUNCH OF IT, probably enough to go 20' high by a city block long. They sold a lot of it, and still have about a half a city block long left.:) They let me use it, and man does it come in handy. I couldn't get those 4 X 9' boards up to the top of the peak of the barn without them.
He said they sold enough scaffold that its paid for itself 10X over, and they still have a bunch left. What a deal:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
