That is a Swapmeet of sheer size I never saw before.

I hope that when Martin and I come over mid October, that there will be some shows and swapmeets for us to hit between Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

Re: 4,by four,for four

That use to be a fun swap meet, in the old days it was in 3 buildings plus outside around and between the buildings, and they had a car coral. But sometimes in February it was colder than a well diggers ***, with ice and 10* and wind, lots of cold wind. This swap meet was sold out on vendor space for over the last 15 years, you had to pay for the booth a year ahead of time, and if you couldn't show up it was easy to sell your space. I was a old timer there, probably had a booth for over 25 years, or I would go even before I started setting up my own space.
Now that its moving to the Star Casino, my wife is happy, but I see all my profit going to the one arm bandit:(

Hey BUG, I own a e-comm business selling air and water filters, been doing e-comm for 18 years now. Been following your project from day one and I swear I've driven by your place before just can't remember when. Going down to Winfield Lake this weekend to see if our new/old party barge will float.

Re: 4,by four,for four

Well today I started working on the garage side, had to remove some metal so I can move the header up about 18". I think I'm gonna cut that one and use it, since its a 2 X 12.
Anyone know what these stairs are out of?? I know there are some smart people out there:thumbup:

Hi Herb
That swap meet looks like my kind of place.
I see that you put that old tractor to good use every chance you get

Your garage is looking good, and I chuckled when I saw your "Jesus donkey" all blooded up. I can imagine the tug of war that caused it.

Good to see you back at it.
I'll be coming by around the first of april if the weather is good I'll P.M. you when it gets closer

Take care!

Don

Re: 4,by four,for four

Stairs out of a building or a boat? Boeing?

YES SIR, we have some winners. Winner Winner chicken dinner. I believe it came out of the Boeing 747 double decker. I bought it at a auction a few months ago. The guy worked for several airplane companies over his life. His family had a big auction after he passed, and his wife moved into town. He had one in his shop, and this was an extra that was out in a shed. I thought it was the neatest thing to use to get up to an attic in his shop. I might just put mine in my barn, going nowhere. I'll call it my stairway to heaven:lol_hitti
Don, that sounds great to me, look forward to meeting you. I can brag that the GREAT Don Long visited my garage!
Buff's, not sure how long I would say from the 70's. Who know's how many zillion of miles those stairs have seen?

Re: 4,by four,for four

I was on the GJ reading Don Long's reply when I felt something go across my bare foot, it felt a little weird so I took my other foot to kindda scratch it, it felt kindda rubbery. I looked down at the floor and:shocking:, bout peed my pants. I had one of these do the same thing a couple years ago. I caught this one and took it outside to the rocks where it should be happy?:dunno: I bet this centipede was at least 8" long.
This is the trench for my air line from the air compressor that supplies air to the other building also. I'm running the blue airline kit with 1/2 " line, I think I might switch this part to 3/4" size.

Re: 4,by four,for four

I was trying to move this 2 X 12 up to the 10'high for my header. But since it was only me, I try to devise a way to get the board up there so I could screw it to the post. Well it didn't work out to well, and the chain holding it on the other side didn't last long once the board fell from the other side. So I'll have to wait till I can get some help:mad: Of course my bucket is about 4' too short

This is one interesting build! I like that you upgraded after you had them take it down. I think you will be real happy with the change. I hate those centipedes! I had a bad experience as a kid with one I squish everyone I can...

Well put a couple of the led lights up, waiting till it gets dark to see how I need to position them for the best results.
The neighbor decided to burn his pasture, so that worked out so I could burn mine the same time. JB Matthews came up a few days ago but it was too windy, but I appreciate his offer.
Went to see one of my favorite rock bands lastnite. They did not disappoint. I like to see what kind of busses they travel in, looks like they are all probably a rented bus because they all look exactly alike. My seats were almost to the back of the stage, the good thing was I didn't have anyone in front of us. My cheap camera took good pictures considering we were about 100 feet from the stage. In case some of you don't know who the band is? Fleetwood Mac:thumbup:

well I finally got the rims powdercoated and the new tires mounted. These will go on the 48 Chevy hearse. One was a little bent but it got fixed before it got coated.

Cool tyres.

I would love a set of 235/75-15 two inch whitewalls for my Rallye wheels.

But here they are stupidly priced.

They aren't any cheaper here, I have right at 1G with the tubes, then another $180. for the powder coat, but they had some rust on them so needed to be done.
Awww man my wife and sister went to see them a couple of months ago when they were in South Florida my dumb *** didn't go now I regret it. :willy_nil

Oh yeah, Christine Mcvee joined them for the first time in years, so they had the original (successful) line up back together. They aren't getting any younger, ol Mic was beating the hell outa them drums like a teenager, Lindsey played guitar like he was 20 also. Diffently worth going too. I can't remember when or if they ever came to Wichita, it was close or it was sold out. They usually hit KCMo, or OKCity and pass us up.
Stevie Nicks, maybe some of you all don't know but shes a big supporter of our wounded Vets, and spends time at W Reed hospital with them. Gotta love that:thumbup:

A little attention to the engine compartment with a wire brush and a can of paint sure makes one feel like it runs much better doesn't it lol

Looks good

Re: 4,by four,for four

Sometimes I don't know when to stop. I always had a mind set that if I have something torn down, which gives me access to something else, I like to fix it or make it look better so I don't have to do it later.
I had plans on just getting the 60 running good then flip it, or trade it for some body work on the hearse. But I might just make a driver out of it for now. I gave it a major tune up, and put new gaskets and changed all the bolt on stuff. I almost pulled the motor just to clean it and the fire wall up, but I just have so much other stuff I need to invest my precious time on.
I think I stay as busy as you Don, but I sure don't seem to get much done. There are times I would like to find some day help, but we don't have much of a work force that wants to do manual labor that involves picking up rocks and moving dirt around.

Well a couple of weeks ago, I went out to the barn to start on the electric boxes. I seen something weird looking in the corner of the barn, it was some fur, and two small legs? First I thought it was a coyote, or a red fox, but after seeing the foot prints I'm thinking its a bob cat?:wtf:
It looks like it must of killed it somewhere else and dragged it in to finish it off?

Re: 4,by four,for four

Went to a auction last Saturday and bought a few things. It was a good ole farm auction, and things were going pretty cheap for a change. They had boxes of stuff that no one would bid on and I would get them for a .25<. I got a big box of dog trophy's, probably about 30 and it had a couple of license plates that I wanted. It went for .50<, bought some shelves and a rolling tool box. Too bad they painted the front doors silver on the United box:headscrat
Got all the nails, screws, brand new flashlights (led) and metal pop bottle openers (Coke, Pepsi Dr Pepper) all for .50< Boy I love auctions:)

You are up early.

Some cool scores.

Dog trophies on a board will be cool, just some random wall art.

What plates did you score?

Re: 4,by four,for four

It was just a couple of local plates. Two of them are the 60's porcelain plates that say WINFIELD KANSAS. I don't see these very often but always try and buy any town names, seems like people like these plates.
There was two big boxes of trophies, probably around 100 all together. I guess the guy was 92, I heard 2 stories one was he went to a retirement home and just took a few things. Then the other story was that he died and the neighbor bought the 17 acres and got everything with it.
They had a lot of nice tools, all older and not any China made stuff. I'm gonna sand the shelf down and paint it, its a very heavy shelf. I would say it was probably at some U.S. Government plant because of all the excess material on this shelf. But that's the kind I like, don't have to worry about it collapsing.

I decided to clean up the old metal shelf and paint it to match an old metal drawer that I have. Its a lime green, and I like the color.
I also spent a few rainy days and lots of hours going thru glass jars , coffee cans and paper sacks, and boxes of old nuts and bolts and nails getting them all sorted out. I have about 100 boxes of stuff that I bought at auctions and just took the time to go thru them. What a lot of time it took.

I bought some paint as close as I could. After I sanded all the shelves and frame rails then primed with rattle can paint. I then decided I didn't like the green paint. I think these shelves have been painted 5 or 6 times. Spent probably 2 days of sanding and pounding out small dents.

I decided to go with red paint and put some shinny deck plate on the back and sides. I probably would of come out ahead if I took it to a body shop and have them paint it. I went thru about 10 cans of red spray paint.:wtf:
I assembled the shelves back with all new hardware, man it has over 100 nuts and bolts, 10 pieces of angle iron under 5 of the shelves. I think this unit weights over 100# pounds even with the aluminum deck tread plate.

I have another shelf I'm going to do the same thing too, but at a later day when the weather gets cooler. I bought these at the last auction, I really like the roll up door on this one, wish I had 3 or 4 more of those.
With all the rain we had a few weeks ago, my trailer just sunk in the mud. This was where my electric line was buried, it was just sitting there than like quick mud it was up to the top of the rim. I couldn't get it out with my 4 wheel tractor, had to wait for it to dry up some.
