gentlemen,

looking for a hand operated pump for pumping gear oil 80w-90 from 20L drums into hard to reach places

anyone got any ideas?

I presume if it pumps gear oil satisfactorily then it will pump any type of oil gear oil being about the thickest there is

regards,
aidan

I don't know if this will be of benefit or not; however, I use a hand held "Mighty Vac" when I pump from quart containers to differentials/transmissions.

It does take some time and it appears that you may need something that can deal more efficiently with larger volumes.

They have quite a few tools for fluid transfer, you might be able to find something that will work specifically for your needs: http://www.mityvac.com/

I use something like this. It screws right into the top of the bottle.

Alot of guys at work use an old honda power steering pump. Attach hoses to inlet and outlet, put inlet into fluid jug. Snug a nut onto the pulley shaft and use an impact to spin the pump to pump the fluid.
