GEARWRENCH makes it simple, if your Mechanics Hand Tool fails, use the
Warranty Replacement Form or contact customer service (877-626-3433) and we will replace it for free.
I always find that phone calls are much more effective.
I thought I'd already replied to this thread. Must have gotten lost.
I had a K-D Front End Service Set p/n 41690. Gearwrench used to be a sub-brand of K-D, but became so popular that the K-D brand was dropped in favor of the Gearwrench branding. The part number is still valid today.
I really only use two of these tools, and both of them needed fresh pressure screws. New screws are not available; gotta warranty the entire set.
So I call Gearwrench and talk to a woman who won't authorize warranty replacement; she actually told me to "buy the OTC equivalent tool." The unstated implication was that K-D/Gearwrench and OTC were both sourcing the tools from the same manufacturer, and then custom-branding.
Eventually, I got the local NAPA to replace the entire set--again, they wouldn't warranty the two tools that needed nothing more than new pressure screws.
My experience is that Gearwrench
has no warranty. They have broken promises, but no warranty.
