Impact set looks nice for $65 shipped. Sears supposedly getting some back in stock next week, so I want to get it with points + freecash instead

Doubt it, though I hope I'm wrong. I've been waiting 3+ months to see that back in stock. Where did you hear next week? I've slowly been noticing less & less Gearwrench impact sets being available. They are still listed, so maybe they come back, but I am not optimistic about it.

Chatted with someone to see if they will be restocking the item or not. I'll add the important part of the chat log below. Not entirely sure what it means..
Similar socket set from Sunex for about the same amount on amazon. Not really sure which to pick. Sometimes I get $35 gc's to Amazon for work so maybe I'll hold off til I can get it that way.

From the chat rep:
I will mark an email to the stock team who will get the stocks. I am sending the details to the team on a high priority. I will add the item to the order recap and email it to you. Once the stocks are available you can easily place the order from the order recap.

I'm going to go out on a short limb, and tell you it means nothing. I got just about the same exact response several months ago. Also got the same response for another items I was eyeing, but that totally disappeared from the site, so at least the GW is still listed.

I just ordered a single GW 1-1/4" wrench that shipped from GW, so they are still selling other non-stocked items. Maybe I'll call GW. Probably wasted time, but probably a more accurate response (even if no one picks up) than talking to a Sears chat rep on the other-side of the world

edit: I guess maybe you bugging them got them to change it. It was not available yesterday, but now it is available for ship to store with a Sept 12 arrival.

44-piece 3/8 impact - $68.96 Lowest price ever at Sears was $56.93 last December, which I think they were matching Amazons price at the time. Otherwise, the lowest it has been at Sears in 2018, was $73.39 in March. Current promo is if you pay $50 or more out of pocket, you also get $50 in points.

Add me as another person who is interested in the 44pc 3/8 impact at Sears. Really hoping it will return sometime before the end of the year (or before Sears close).

UPDATE: that is weird that now I can order it. It was not available when I looked earlier ~3 hr ago so I spent my expiring points on Knipex earlier

not available close to me either. ive always wondered how that worked--they can ship to a handful of small stores ~50-70 miles away but not mine, even though it still takes 4-6 weeks to get to them. any logic on how they ship store to store?

Pretty nice set. I own 2 sets, both bought used through warehouse deals, only negative is, at least IMO, IIRC, made in communist China. YMMV

I also own Sunex 3342 3/8-Inch Drive Master Impact Socket Set, Inch/Metric, Standard/Deep, 6-Point, Cr-Mo, 5/16-Inch - 3/4-Inch, 10mm - 19mm, 42-Piece made in Taiwan. Currently $69.99.

Both are nice sets, GearWrench adds a 6" extension, a 21mm deep socket and has a better case. As far as quality of the tools go. IMO, both are equal.

My most used 3/8" impact sockets are Sunex Tools 3328 3/8" Drive Semi-Deep Impact Socket Set - 14 Piece. Currently $48.41. Made in Taiwan. Mid length (semi-deep) are my go to, they can take care of around 90%/95% of my 3/8" drive impact socket needs.

Thanks for sharing. Good to know that it is about the same quality as Sunex. I have Sunex in 1/4 and 3/8 drive metric which is my go to set. I have always want to get the SAE to complete my set but Sunex is not offered at Sears anymore.

I really like the idea of one box that has both SAE and Metric. The box looks sturdy which is a plus.

i believe all the stores are franchises. maybe some opt out, or, more likely, some are "premium" franchises, and these kinds of deals are only available through them.

you could stop by the local guy, and ask him why you can't get the offer there. . . . .

That 21mm was the biggest reason I went with the Gearwrench. I swear my set was Taiwan though. I'll run out and check in a few minutes, definitely more important than answering phones at the moment

Made in info is printed only on the cardboard sleeves which I don't save.

GearWrench impact extensions I've bought separately, chrome sockets and ratchets have been labeled as made in Taiwan. GearWrench impact socket sets have all been, IIRC, labeled made in China.

i doubt anyone at the store would know, but it's not a big deal. half the stuff i can get shipped to mine, half i can't but it hasn't been on anything i really wanted other than that thread restorer kit about 2 months ago when i was down to like $35

This 3/4 inch drive 13 pc. SAE ratchet set with metal case is 99.99 at Acme. It is $449 at HD and $144 at Amazon. (I have seen it for $99 there also in the past.) Free shipping and no tax for me.

https://www.acmetools.com/shop/tools/gearwrench-80879

yes, that is a great deal. if you are interested in dipping your feet into 3/4 drive tools, it is an excellent place to start.

you are doing good if you can get 3/4" sockets for less than 10$ each shipped, getting 11 sockets, a ratchet, and extender, and a nice metal box for 100$ delivered is a great deal.

Used AWD above is sold.

Amazon's current price on new GearWrench 84916N SAE/Metric 3/8" Drive Impact Socket Set (44 Piece) is $67.99. In stock on September 24, 2018.

Last set I bought of these used from AWD cost me $71.48 back in December of 2015, IMO $67.99 is a good price for brand new.

Nice set, IMO worth the price for those who use a 3/8" drive impact - cordless or air. What prices will be after the tariffs hit is way beyond my knowledge. GearWrench impact socket sets are made in communist China but are quality sockets. GearWrench, part of Apex tool, is owned by Bain Capital.

IMO price early next year might be higher than current price. I suspect if/as prices go up on made in China stuff prices on made in Taiwan tools probably will rise too. Interesting time we are living in. I'm glad that there aren't many tools on my current need/want to buy list.

Hopefully come this years holiday buying season there will be decent deals.

I was looking for a dead blow ball pein hammer and came across this deal at $32, it looks like half price compared to other vendors at $76 and up. I think I’d prefer a smaller hammer, but the 36 oz is $52 so I ordered this larger one.

The specs from the Amazon post don't match the Gearwrench website.

There is another 50% sale at advance auto parts but sadly it seems to be focused entirely on small quantity wrench sets and not on socket/bit sets like last time they had a 50% off sale.
