Got mine today from Tooltopia. I picked up the 1/4 drive metric set. They look outstanding!!! They are also made in Taiwan. The sockets are nicely finished inside and out. They feature the deep knurled band at the bottom for excellent finger spinning. They have the single size marking in a circle that's easy to read when dirty, and all sockets measue 1.25 inches in length (the same as snap on, and others). I think you would be hard pressed to find a better bang for your semi deep socket buck, aside from finding a bargain.
A couple of ****** pictures show you the set coming on a nice Gearwrench rail. The second one shows a gearwrench shallow, semi deep, snap on semi deep, and a gearwrench deep 1/4 drive 10 mm sockets for comparison. I'll take them to work to start their adventure tomorrow.
Prefer? chrome over impact? let's see.. I use my 3/8 drive sunex semi deep impact set on my cordless impact wrenches. I use my Gearwench chrome 1/4 mid length mostly for hand and cordless ratchet use. It's not a matter of prefering one over the other but, more of a different mission for each set.
I do like that the sunex impact set includes 21 and 22mm sizes. that's something my tool truck brand sets don't have.
I think the Gearwrench 1/4 drive metric set has some of the nicest finished sockets I've seen and I really like the knurling on the base.
I know many of you will consider it a crime against nature but, I buy more Gearwrench and other non truck brands than I get from a truck these days.
