Advance Auto Parts has a good deal on GearWrench wrenches. The 8 piece reversible sets are $29.99 while the 7 piece flex heads (my personal favorite) are $34.99.

The 8 piece metric looks nice, I already have an Armstrong SAE set, and both metric and SAE in flex head craftsman. Might has very to get a set of the metric reversible.
How long is the sale good for, all month?

I hear these wrenches are extremely well regarded regardless of where and how they are made. How easy is it to warranty these wrenches? Can I just take them to Advance Auto and swap them on the spot?

As long as they have them in stock, The advances around where I live will do this. Otherwise, you contact Gear wrench to set an RMA up. I've done this with an indexing wrench, and it was painless.

I've been waiting for the dewalt reversibles to drop below $50, but I might have to bite on the GW. Wish they had a 1/4" in that set.

First post for me, woohoo!

I have the reversible sets, but I wanted the flex heads too. I went to Advance last night to grab an SAE and metic set of the flex heads. They were marked 50% off in the store, down to 34.99. I bought both, and during the checkout the guy helping me scanned a 25% coupon he had beside his computer (that wanst supposed to work for these, but did) which brought the total cost for both sets down to $52.14. I would like to add a 5/16, 8mm, and 18mm to the set.

Dewalt's reversibles were below $50 late last year, around the $30-$35 mark at CPO Outlets. I'm looking forward to when they drop in price again, as I'll gladly purchase the SAE ratcheting set I didn't pick up in the last sale. That's it for now :D

Avoid buying Williams tools from Amazon. If you read the J.H. Williams warranty information, the lifetime warranty is only valid if purchased from an authorized re-seller. Amazon is not an authorized re-seller and (in theory), you will not be able to warranty any J.H. Williams product purchased through them.

Besides, Amazon's prices are crazy high compared to toolsdelivered.com.:)

Metric for $143.28.

SAE for $97.18.

Hate to be the naysayer, but I have not had a good experience with the reversibles. Mine are a few years old and the ratcheting mechanisms are constantly sticking and jamming. Not durable enough for typical leverage, IMO.

I assume the praise I've heard is for the non-reversing type. I've had no experience with them. But I've had it with these...

John, good to know on these. Were the problems just with the racheting part or with the switch selector part? I have heard the newer China Gearwrench isn't as good as Taiwan was but cannot say. I do know that many pros use the Taiwan ones and love them, but that is in the past now. - Paul

Yes, it's my understanding this sale lasts all month.

I have the flex heads and while mine are 7 or 8 years old, I absolutely love them. I use them very often and wouldn't hesitate to get them again. I'd have a hard time ever going back to regular wrenches.

As for the reversible, I've also used these and wasn't a fan. The mechanism didn't seem as fine, so it didn't ratchet as well, it was constantly binding up, etc. They were no where near as good as the non reversibles. So while some people like them, I personally think the flex heads are a lot better.

For the flex heads these come out to $5 a wrench or $3.75 per wrench for the reversible ones. So much cheaper than the BOGO free deal posted above that comes out to $7 per wrench.

Both, I guess. When ratcheting back from the fastener you're tightening, the selector catches and prevents repositioning the wrench for another stroke. Jiggling and re-engaging the selector is required to continue. Until it catches again... Lather, rinse, repeat.

Thanks, got it. So say the normal but flex head ones may not have the problem then, only the reversible ones. Right? - Paul

I bought all three about a year ago. The deal hasn't ended. You can slap a coupon code on top and get them even cheaper.

Ugh, I can't find an 8mm flex that doesn't cost more than half of the whole set. I feel sure I'd use that and the 10mm the most.

Because of item discount it's supposed to be excluded- your best bet is to go in and purchase in store hope they can give a discount in store

Went to the store (autoquest). We don't have an advance auto here in Northern California. Same company. They only stock one of each per store lol kinda silly. No discount either.
My set is China made. Read good reviews on the Taiwan made, for the price and warranty this will do. Thanks for posting the deal OP.

That's the general consensus either the switch gets caught on things or tends to get hung up when going back n forth between. My personal experience with them, my older CM used to do the same so I dumped the original gear wrench ones I tried. Definitely a fan of the flex ones, just wish they had slightly mor than the 7 piece maybe a 10 for closer to that price

I have the reversible set with the "cap stop" feature and never had a problem with either problem mentioned. I also contacted gw about the Chinese Taiwan thing and they told me there was no difference. The facility able to fill the order, gets the job.

That's part of the reason I bought the reversible set at the time. It comes with the 8 and 18mm wrenches. I also filled in the gaps with some cheap, standard 0 degree offset wrenches from eBay. Just the other day I bought a 6, 9, 16mm wrenches for $14 shipped. As of two days ago I ordered this set from northern tool and at the moment am only missing 20mm. FWIW this is a really good deal

I would recommend the flex heads. I use them pretty much exclusively for ratchet wrenches. It's hard to use a regular non flex after using these.

I picked up a set of the SAE flex head ones too... I've been looking at them for a while, passed 'em up last time they were on sale, had to do it this time. They seem pretty nice, especially for the sale price!

My local advanced auto is out of stock on one of the items but I noticed Sears has them but packaging is different & item numbers are: 44005 & 44006 in the store.

Are these the same or different?

I would suggest not getting the flex heads. They're a good way to bust your hand if you try to lean on them too much.

I don't understand the desire for a reversible ratching wrench. Just flip the thing over. The nonreversible mechanism is much stronger.

I have two sets of their xforce wrenches. One has ratcheting boxed ends. The other does not. They're longer. The open end is thinner. They aren't reversible.

I wish they'd sell the ratcheting wrenches with 6 point boxes instead of 12 point boxes.

I always find this funny. When the situation comes that you wish you had a reversible ratchet, then you REALLY will understand.

Who really leans on a ratchet wrench? If you are using that much force, you'll break the ratchet mechanism. Use a regular wrench to break it free, then use the ratchet wrenches.
