generac generator question

I purchased a used 15 kw generac generator, model 4390-0 which uses ng pressure of 11-15 inches water pressure. newer unit of 4390-03 uses 5-7 inches like every house has in the country of course. the question is can I convert this unit by using the newer gas regulator and mixing box of the 4390-03 as the engine and everything else is the exact same?

It is inches water column, not water pressure, 7" water column translates to about 1/4 pound of pressure. As to substituting regulators I don't know.

your stated pressure range is more typical for propane. are you sure it's set up for NG or could it be for propane?

My Generator had a lever or unplug some thing (I can't remember) at the intake to change from NG to LPG and that was it

That's how my old Generac works.

Should be a simple change under the air filter assembly . Small lever similar to a choke on small air cooled engine. Some of the earlier units get a different jet on the regulator assembly .

the unit runs on the same pressure for ng as lp source
no lever to switch it

since the remaining parts are identical i am going to try changing the fuel regulator and the mixing box and see if it starts easier

There will be a fuel lever if it's an Evolution controller, Nexus controlled will be under the air filter cover. The Generac regulator in the unit is a demand regulator, the IWC will come from the regulator feeding to it.
