Generator Power....Out Building

I have an out building with no power. I was thinking of putting in a service panel with ciruit breakers and having a circuit for ceiling lights and a circuit for a few plugs. Again, this building is not hooked into any electrical power grid.

I have a Generac GP5500 generator (120/240v). The frame is grounded to the ground terminals of the AC outlets on the generator. Can I just hook this up to the panel, using appropriate size wire (2 hots, neutral, and ground, or do I need a separate ground rod? There would be no transfer switch.

Technically you should ! but you might be the only person to do it.

I would install the ground rod and then disconnect the ground from the frame of the generator.

Bond ground and neutral in the load center in the building.

I was gonna say the same thing. The neutral and ground will be bonded in the panel since its a main panel....
