OK So I've been reading posts on here for a year, making phone calls, going to every website I can find that sells and builds garages and it's time to start the build. Been on the phone with National Barn Company out of Portland TN several times over the past month and here is where we're at. Looking for opinions, not that I'm likely to listen... :bounce: After beating up the salesman on prices & options we have tenatively agreed on this.. 30x40x12 pole barn style building. 2 10x10 garage doors (not included but framed out) on the 40' side, walk through door & a 3x3 window on that side as well. Pic attatched. Scissor trusses to ensure that I have room for a lift. 2 24"x30" gable vents, fully insulated with "plyfoil" built on my slab. All materials, delivered and assembled for $11,600. What say you all ? As hard as I have tried this is the absolute best deal I can find and trust me, I tried hard cause I'm cheap.. Many thanks to Marty from Mountain City TN (64dragnwagon ) for turning me on to these guys and if I do go with them you should have a referral check heading your way from them. Here is the quick rendering their guy, Paul sent me.

Looks great. I'd lose the window, but that's just me. Nosy people don't need to see what's in my garage.

Thanks Al. I agree but.. it's the only window and it faces toward my back door. A simple curtain will allow me to see out but nobody to see in.

Think about a 1 foot over hang. You'll be glad you did, will look much better. With vented soffit and ridge in cause you want to insulate later. Then the venting will already be there.

Seems like a good deal for the size. I second the 1' overhang. Makes a big difference in erosion control and looks better IMHO.

Keep the window.

The price I was quoted includes insulation but I will speak to him about the overhang. I had planned to have gutters put on later though so it's not that big of a deal. David, awsome garage ! I have room for 3 overhead doors but wanted a small office area where I can display some of my small stuff, have a computer, etc. When I moved here from NH I gave up a 3 bay garage and a large barn and at the moment my basement is overflowing with my gas & oil collectibles, signs and stuff. Keep the ideas coming guys and thanks !
