OK, I am NOT a HVAC person what so ever so bare with me.....

Here is a test of skill for ya'll...We live in a old lofted apartment with ceiling going from about 20' sloped up to about 35'. The main wall has 3 large windows roughly 8' x 8' single pane  that are "shrink-wrapped" and a sliding window to the porch. The heat setup is primarily baseboards,] and it does have an A/C/Heat (blower?) installed through the main wall as well.

As you can imagine our electric bill ***** during the winter...we can get the upstairs warm just fine but downstairs is way way cooler. I have contemplated/attempted using a length of 4" dryer duct going down the stairs connected to a reducer and a conventional 8" fan at the bottom to pull warmer air down, I am unsure if this will really do anything?? I have hopes but my wife calls me crazy lol I am in need of a relatively lower cost way to move heat down stairs that is not invasive (its an apartment so nothing permanent) to set up. Any creative thoughts appreciated!

Ready Go! :dunno:

I took ripstop nylon sewed them into long tubes, then mounted computer fans in the end of them. When they were energized and hung from the ceiling they forced the warmer air down and out the tube and it worked quite well. Rolled up nicely for winter storage.
Try something like that and you won't be out much to see if it works in your location. Good luck.

ceiling fan

I can't as it's an apartment and can't "install" anything permanent, additionally it's old popcorn ceiling that contains asbestos so screwing into it wouldn't be ideal....however I suppose I could wire it to just plug in a wall outlet
