I've seen that right angle thing before, it is really amazing how it works, for sure something you will play with it for a good while hahaha. What is amount of torque limit you think it has ?
I'm sure it can handle anything I'd throw at a 1/4" drive socket. Interesting thing is that I ran it for a few minutes at 570 rpm on the drill press last night and it never even got warm. No load, and I did lube it with some Dri-Slide.

The sole use I can think of, aside from fidget thingy, is with a spinner handle where the handle won't fit. Maybe.

I forgot that I had these but I was poking through my miscellaneous drawer and found them. At least they are prettier than my Heller originals and likely decent quality since they are made in Japan.
-Don
I carried one of these in a pocket in my turnout gear when i worked at a chemical plant.
@d42jeep if you still have the two you posted in post #28 I would be interested in either one if you want to sell it.

I've had this Craftsman 44663 adjustable box wrench since it was new in the first part of the 1990s. It sorta works, but I don't think I've used it more than two or three times and it lives in a put-away bin.

It is beautifully made, however, with lovely satin chrome over a nice forging and very well done knurling on the adjuster. Pity the gimmick doesn't work any better than it does.

A couple of CMAN USA wrenches.

This one is in my truck bag. It's sloppy but it does work.
CMAN-43380.jpg

This one is confusing. One end is Size 0-1-2, the other end 3-4-5

Here’s my version of the adjustable box end, it was a gift - it still has the gift receipt from Sears in 2000 tapes to the back - I’ve never found a use for it (yet).

Then there’s the flexi-hex bit driver. No idea where it came from to be honest, but the magnet that should hold the bit in place doesn’t exist or work so it’s not very useful without but retention…

Well upon further review - I've never bothered to even look before - the flexi driver thing is apparently a carburetor adjustment driver. See some pics on ebay and whatnot... K-D tools No. 130. I can't tell if the bits are specific to this driver maybe, I've always assumed there should be a magnet in there to hold standard bits. So I learned something today :)

Had to take a closer look - but it's definitely hex. There's a slot/channel for a ball detent I guess for bit retention so that explains the lack of magnet or something. I've honestly never paid that much attention to it - since I've had it it has always just lived quietly in the back of the tool drawer. After seeing that though, I distinctly remember some screwdriver bits that were longer than usual and had a ball detent. In some of my grandfather's old stuff I think. I'll have to go look after work and see if I can find those now and I'd bet dollars to doughnuts they go together.

^ ahh yes... the ubiquitous "fitzall" wrench! We sold those in Wilmar! I think every single one of them came back as "warranty".

@whitesco -

that "flex thingie" - in a completely different iteration - came with an assortment of "bits" and was sold under a number of brand names.
The catalog listing for Indestro's version (#2820) is attached below. These were made by Aircraft Specialties/ES Tool/Shaw Enterprises of Lapeer, MIchigan. the catalog illustration shows the assortment of attachments that came with the "driver".

I don't know if your "K-D" unit was set up to accept different attachments.

Found it! I’ve probably had these things 30 years or more and never put them together until today. Thanks GJ! Not that I’m likely to use it any more than I have to this point, but now I know what that oddball bit is and why that drive won’t hold anything else!! 😁

Flat blade screwdriver on one side and small Allen/hex drive the on the other.

Just cuz you don't adjust carbs anymore doesn't mean you won't find a use. Holding a hex bit makes it useful for something. I have two lonnnng ones, fixed shaft with an angled end. Don't know that I can generate much torque, but who cares.😉

I found applicable tools this weekend at an estate sale.
One Craftsman Clench Wrench 42308, 3/8” - 11/16” and a 3 pc set of Robo Grips. I’ll probably put these up on eBay, but it’s cool learning about all of these different, “unique” tools. Here’s so pictures below. IMG_5415.jpeg

Those Robo Grips were clumsy and pathetic. I threw mine away.

Honestly, I wonder why I'm even keeping mine. Despite being US-made, they're flimsy. The Eifel Plierrench does most of what it can better (and with the right jaws--just about anything--including stuff Knipex can't do), and the Pliers Wrench is by far, a million times better. Heck, I used the Plierrench (and with my only current jaw--pipe) just yesterday as a hand vise for filing a screw, and it did much better than the RoboGrip.

Think I need to just see what I can get out of it. Probably use it as trade bait at a local antique store, alongside those "everything" wrenches.

This is coming up for auction:

It's a pistol, screwdriver, and adjustable wrench, and it does none of them very well.

"And how did this accident happen, sir?"

"I needed to tighten that screw on the door handle when the screwdriver went off. I had no idea it was loaded."

That pistol wrench is a solution to a problem that never existed haha, that is certainly one of the best of the worst.

^ I have forwarded the necessary information above to our friends at datamp.org, but that's as far as I'm going on this one. NOT going down that rabbit hole.

A well meaning girlfriend of my wife who never visits empty handed gave me this a while back. Bless her, she means well and if not for how utterly absurd this is I'd feel bad about mocking a gift.
I cannot conceive a scenario where the "screwdrivers" could be deployed or how the hell one is supposed to grip this thing while using the wrench openings or can opener. Just what a person in the wilderness needs, another opportunity to injure themself.
Beyond pathetic. Whoever thought up this POS should get a kick in the nuts.

Ahhh yes.... the proverbial "totally and utterly useless" all-in-one "camping" tool... a favorite among clueless gift-givers who "know somebody who likes the outdoors".
Can't even remember how many useless nonsensical objects I've set out at the curb, gifted to me by well-meaning relatives or "friends".

I bought a couple different shapes for different friends based on their joys. They clip them to their day use backpacks just for fun. A yeti or a dog, depending on their love of things. Doubt any get used for more than decoration.

I've been given a few of the "credit card tools" by friends (at least, I think they are) over the years. I always claim to have lost them.

I just remembered, and now I have to admit it. I do have a 'Land Rover' credit card sized version in the cubby box. More for amusement than utility, that's for sure!

^ at least it's got a 9mm wrench and a MPH to KMH converter - two things every American driver needs! (y)
Years ago, probably 1980s, California added KM to the mileage signs along the freeways. Used to see them on I5. Eventually they were removed. Haven't seen one in years. Do they still exist? Another waste of taxpayer money.

Did someone say...
...all-in-one "camping" tool...
??!!!

THIS is an All-Purpose Camping Tool! ;)

Please excuse that lousy, antiquated, simplistic, uni-purpose entrenching tool, which is shown just for size context.

Did you bend the **** out of it first time you tried to use it?

We had real army shovels around the house for quite some time growing up but the handle broke so Dad bought a cheapy at the " Army Navy surplus" store. Bent the blade within 2 weeks.

I got two around the house now from the '40s great for all that detailed gardening work that needs to be done.

Use it? USE IT?! Are you nuts? I have that thing under lock and key in the bunker! :)

No, seriously, I'm not much of a 'Prepper' (okay, maybe just a little...), but the multi-tooler in me does like the idea of the Globemaster All-Purpose Camping Shovels, even if they're a little small, pot metal, dull, and not robust. And if the red star cluster goes up right now or I have to head for the hills or my sailboat or get lost on that desert island or I am one of the chosen ones lined up at the spaceship flying mother nature's silver seed to a new home on Gliese677Cc, and I was allowed to bring only one thing, just one, I might could convince myself.

Which is why I have two. The one with the original sheath is just for show. The other one is for real. At the very least I figure I could use the "HATCHET EDGE" on myself before I get stuck in some kind of human battery pod. And if it's friendly up there, I'll be able to pop open a beer. :)

The army surplus shovel living in the back of my Land Rover is dated 1944, and it's been used more and outlived many other shovels. Possibly it's survived so well because I keep it locked in my Land Rover which nobody else touches!

Plus, Land Rovers never get stuck, so you don't have to do stupid stuff to get them out?

Why do you think I'm loading up on HFCS, isomalto-oligosaccharides, whey protein, carrageenan, and yellow 6? I'll be labeled inedible.

I've lost count of mine, but the one in the photo is an AMES 1945.

Call me old-fashioned, but I'm sticking with nicotine, caffeine, hemes and ethanol.
