Won't fit in your toolbox but General still makes some of their power tools in Canada, if you're careful. Some of their drillpresses, bandsaws, tablesaws, etc.

I have never, ever encountered the CanForge name before, Brian... I'm quite amazed!

I'm 97% sure I JUST saw a couple CanForge wrenches at my local Home Hardware (Canada). Never heard of them. It had a small 'anvil' type logo on it, and then full word CANADA on the other end. These have probably been there since the 90's or something.

Six months ago I remember seeing some non-polish Gray wrenches at the same store...gone now - wish I would have grabbed them!

Can Forge is still in business in Welland, Ontario but does not appear to make tools any longer. What is interesting about the Welland Ontario location is that both Gray and Billings once also had plants in that City.

i was at HD last week and this thread made me go into the screwdriver section - they had this set on sale for 10.00$, couldn't leave it there.

Honestly, I think these are one of the most comfortable screwdriver handles I've ever used. With oily hands the Williams hard handles are better, but otherwise these ones are the perfect size. I love the flutes allowing a good grip and lots of torque without needing a death grip. The color coded handles are helpful too. My go to Robertson and Phillips screwdrivers are these exact ones, at least for indoor or woodworking use. HD and Rona sells them individually or in sets.

Lots of the Veritas line from Lee Valley is Canadian made...world class planes and other woodworking tools.
The magnetic Pic-Nic multi screw drivers mentioned previously are my favorites for household use
All the best hockey players are also Canadian made :bounce:

That style is good and durable, but ergonomics are subjective - have you tried a Picquic? I also tend to favour wood handles.

But of course, I'm Canadian! :D

I've got 2 Six-Pack Plus drivers plus 1 stubby. I like them a lot too for the same reason: I find fluted handles the most comfortable for my medium sized hands. Picquic's are the most stable and easiest to use multi-bit driver I've come across. I can't remember ever dropping a bit when changing it, which usually occurred at the top of a 24 ft extension ladder with my previous multi-driver.

Snap on made alot of tools in Canada started in the 50's ended in the 70's (not 100% sure)
Here's a Canadian Snap-on tool box from the mid 60's. I bought the top chest used in 1969 and the bottom roller cabinet just last week. Both work great and I'm looking forward to restoring them.

Sad thing about TommyGo knee pads is they sold out a couple years ago, and now ALL of them except the starter ones showed in those pictures are made in China.

For years now the plastic card stocking labels have been "Printed in China" - probably once they started making a few of their models over there - but now all their levels starting above the basic sponge pads (black, green, blue sponge) are all made overseas. Same price as they were when Canadian made...of course.

I recently snagged one of the heavy duty $40.00 Canadian made pairs remaining at Canadian Tire. Bought my dad a pair years ago - he loves them.

Also picked up for $5.00 (1/2 off regular) a kneeler type folding mini-pad with a hook on it for your belt etc. I leave it in my truck in case I need it to kneel on the ground to look under my truck for a leak or any other issues. Grabbed 2 of the Canadian made ones left - now Taiwan. Same price....of course.

I recall that Ratch-Cut thing winning a design award of some kind about a decade ago and I've seen them in catalogues re-branded for others, but I have never seen one in person.

I stumbled across it when I recently went down for a weekend roadtrip to Portland, Oregon. As with any other trip I make, I must visit a tool store. I wasn't expecting much when I walked into a Do It Best store, but they had some decent selection of Made-in-USA tools and then there was this Ratch-cut at the plumbing isle.

To my surprise, after a quick search online, I found that they sell it cheaper. I got it for $28 US and being that it's Oregon, no tax :D

I have no idea of its age, but based on the packaging, I'd say it's around the turn of the century??

Got a Canadian made HENRY vise today. I'll make a jaw and spruce it up. ****,,since I'm originally from the maple city i may end up keeping the vise. Just read history of the manufacturer. Mr Henry died at a very young 44 years of age. How sad.

You Canadians have one awesome hardware store in Millbank, Ontario. My cousin works there. I have not seen a hardware store in the USA as cool as Millbank Country Hardware. They don't have a website that I know of , unfortunately.
