I still think that it should cost a dollar to get in. The dollar is paid to the coordinator. The dollar does a few things. Those to lazy to make the effort to get t he dollar in will be out. The dollar will be a gift to the coordinator to make a small compensation for the time and headaches he goes through. The dollar could also go to pay for a gift to the deserving that the dead beats shaft.

Larry G - I agree with your idea

BWP puts alot of time and effort and he should be rewarded in some way.

I didn't have the post count last year and I don't post pad. I'm excited to be able to participate this year.

Has anyone heard from BWP lately? He popped up and said he'd do SS this year, then vanished. I heard he wanted to start it at the end of November, which (going by me doing it last year) will be too little time for everyone.

I think we had at least 7 weeks overall last year, from start to Christmas.

That seems like a good idea to me!! I'm in for this year too. I think I had more fun getting stuff to surprise my receipient than getting anything.

We really need to get the ball rolling, so that gifts sent from members overseas have time to arrive before Christmas.

Got a few notes of concern from our Brethren across the pond.

Since this is an International event, we will start it this Sunday.

On Sunday the 6th I will start the thread with the official rules.

Oh, by the way I like the $1.00 entry to the organizer!!! But I assure you that it is not necessary. I started this for the GJ Fraternity in 2008 and enjoy doing it.

I am very grateful to Moose for picking it up last year. Last year was not good for me to do this.

Cheers!

Hey, this sounds neat! I have a few things in the garage that are worth more but aren't new (but still really cool) and I'm wondering if that'd be acceptable?

Anyone have a link to the thread?

Should we put up a poll for the $1 buyin? I know the work that goes into things like this and anyone that steps up deserves it. I do think it should be mandatory to put up or shutup.

If I were to be in it, $1 sign up is fine, shoot even if I weren't in that sounds like a good idea for the man running this whole thing

I think the dollar is a good idea. It can start a fund if anyone signs up and fails to deliver this year. Then anything left over can go to you for running it.

Just do the dollar entry fee. If someone doesn't get a gift, there's a fund to cover a replacement.

Aside from that, what can you get for a dollar? A bottle of soft drink? Two bars of chocolate? ****, i spent about $6 on lottery tickets last night and it's almost dead certain i won't win!

I agree $1 buy in is the way to go. That way if anyone gets stiffed then at least we can get him/her something.

I'm also in again this year.. it was fun last year researching my Santa, and I was pleasantly surprised with what I received. I didn't post as much as I normally do this year but I'd still love to partake.

BWP - Just make the $1 a requirement to participate. I dont think we need a poll.

When they ship their gifts, the Secret Santas should include their screen names so that a proper thanks can be given on the forum!

What would be the cut off date for signing up to participate? I'd love to this year but will be out of town from Sunday to Thursday with no internet access.
