I purchased for of these from Lowe's to install above my workbench. The cabinets are on order and won't be shipped until early February, I want to get the bench in position before deciding how high to hang the wall cabinets.
I put one together today and found the screw and bolt heads stick out of each end. Not a big deal, but it will cause a gap between each cabinet, being **** about that kind of **** it annoys me. I am thinking of thru bolting the three ends of the cabinets that will be against one another. I'll need some longer screws for the shelves, but not for the top and bottom plates. I'll loose the ability to adjust the shelves, but that would be near impossible once all the cabinets were mounted.
Has anybody tried this before? These are not that heavy and without the doors or the two center shelves, two people could easily lift these into place. I' m going to mount them to some 1 x 2 that I'll secure to the studs, I'll have some sort of temporary horizontal so I can drill and bolt them with lag screws to the 1 x 2 strips.
