Snap-On F936. Older 36 tooth ratchet. Same one that's my avatar photo. Bought it new in 2007 with a student set of tools. Old Bessie has a lot of war wounds and keeps on ticking. My second choice would be my long flex soft red handle dual 80.

This. Mine has a black plastic hard handle. My first SnapOn tool, bought in the mid 90s when I got my first job as a mechanic. Used constantly since then, never missed a beat.

1/4" husky i bought new about 20 years ago.
3/8" blackhawk i bought new about 20 years ago.

i've got newer and "better" (MAC & SO) but those are the 2 guys i almost always reach for first; depending on the job/task of course.

those 2 have never let me down and just feel right

For me it is my TL72 for 1/4 inch, and whenever possible for 3/8 I use a NB44 my Dad gave me a long time ago.

Plain old F80 for me
I was going to buy a Zyklop, but I'm surprised it's not a go-to for anyone...

For 3/8ths:

1st is SO FL80
2nd is FLF80
3rd is Armstrong 11-992

Depending on size, or task, this list could be flipped.

For the 1/4"er... it's mostly the Armstrong 10-992 or SO TF72 (or whatever the flex head's # is).

Protos are in the truck bag and have seen a lot of love.

My go to is my 1/4 Milwaukee bat pwr 12v , if that don't fit then I grab a dual 80. If I could put a dual 80 head on a cornwell handle with a matco flex head locking mechanism I think that would be the PERFECT ratchet!!

CORNWELL has a 72 tooth (JR72)with the same handle but its too tight. I thought it would loosen up over time but it hasn't yet. Its almost impossible to use because it will not catch teeth, it just spins the bolt back as you go to engage the ratchet mechanism ,so your just fighting yourself. Its disappointing because the 36 tooth is sooo smooth.

1/2" Armstrong long flex 60 tooth. 18 1/2 inches of American awesome. Sometimes it's that only way I can break loose the bolts that my co workers have put on "special ed tight"
I also have an 11" or 12" 3/8 Armstrong that I reach for to take guards off adjust dry screws.

I've often stuck with the SK 1/4" body long handle in both 1/4" and 3/8" drive, but lately I find myself going to the Armstrong aerospace ratchets if I want a normal handle length (actually, the Armstrong 1/4" is about halfway between SK's "standard" and "long" 1/4" ratchets... so it is a little longer).

I have 2 sets in a drawer that II grab the most 1 is the snapon covered magnetic tray 1/4" drive deep metrics with a red handle snap on ratchet the other is the metric deep snap on magnetic set with a red handle 3/8 ratchet... 90% of modern day stuff can be done in side them sets, I have a bunch of swivels and rotary heads, long, stubby, 3.8 in a 1/4 drive handle, etc. but they hardley get used, I like the straight screwdriver handle snap on ratchets for almost everything..
