GOOD Tool box

I found this web site that has really good quality tool boxes at very resonable prices. http://www.strictlytoolboxes.com/ I bought the Extreme model 56" box. It is very good quality much better than Craftsman, Waterloo, Clarke. I would compare it to the lower end Snap On or Matco box. It has smooth drawer slides and the box is made of a much thicker metal than what most other boxes I have looked at. I purchased the blue box and it looks really nice. Just thought I would pass it on if someone is looking for a good affordable box.

I've had the same couple of Craftsman boxes for a decade of moderate use, and I have nothing to complain about. I guess I don't know what I'm missing, but out of curiosity, why are the boxes you mention so much better?

He mentions that good thick metal is used, which most of the reviews for the Cman boxes I read on the Sears site complain that the drawers are made out of metal that is just too thin. Which has kept me from buying a Cman box myself.

That's cool. I get that. I guess I'm coming from the perspective of a typical homeowner hack who doesn't have or need major tools. I will admit that my metal Craftsman drawers are a bit dinged up, but aside from that, they do function well.

Interesting. Strictly recently contacted us about being a sponsor. As such, I was able to locate a few fellas that use those boxes. I was expecting mixed reviews, but they seem to be really well liked. That's good to hear.

What color did you buy? I like the royal blue...but when you go to the detail of the 56" extreme, it's "electric" blue.

I'm always skeptical when the guys with positive things to say have few posts and both joined in the same month.

No need to be skeptical about Westtexass2k. He is a major contributer on a car forum that I have visited in the past. Looking at his profile on that forum, he is a firefighter by trade.

As a moderator, I keep tabs on such things. This appears legit...

In any case, I haven't found a negative owner of these boxes yet. That's a good thing.

I looked at the website and saw some good prices, but no specs. Anybody seen anything on metal gauge, drawers slides, etc. ?

Some of them have detailed specs... I noticed that the Montezuma line lists "20 gauge steel shell, 18 gauge steel drawer inners and drawer fronts, 16 gauge steel tool box caster channels".

i'm surprised no one asked yet...

are they going to be a sponsor? if so, what's in it for us? :)

I'm looking for a new box and if waiting a few weeks will save something, I can wait.....

I have no affiliation with Strictly Boxes. I came across a good product at a smoking deal thought I would share with other garage guys. I have had multiple boxes over the years mostly Craftsman. They have done ok but I had so many tools that I had tools spread over multiple boxes which made it difficult to organize. I hate hunting for tools. I looked for 2 months trying to find boxes and almost bought one at Lowes that was stainless but it was 1700.00 with a fridge and all which ate up tool storage space. I got the Strictly box for several hundred less and it has the storage I need. I actually have a few drawers that are still empty.

I dont remember the gauge of the drawers and it varies with the boxes they have but if you call them they will explain the differences.

Hey Titus thanks for the welcome. I saw the link to this site from USA7s site during the expoxy floor discussion. I had been looking at that myself so I spent a few days reading up on things here.

Cool... I hung out at USA7s when I first decided I wanted a 7, but then I found locostusa.com. I purchased a partially built home-built locost from someone over there that I will be working on for the next year or 2. Once it is on the road, I will probably get back over on USA7s.

And that makes him a better person? :rolleyes2

David71camero I dont think that he implied that I was a better person because I am a firefighter. He is stating that I am a firefighter not a toolbox salesman. Which is being heavily implied from a few comments at the begining of the thread.

I guess I will just keep my mouth shut and go back to more friendly forums. I just wanted to impart something that I had come across to people of similiar interest take or leave it. It is no skin of my ****.

Newbie here.............

Wanting to pull the trigger on new EXTREME Tool Box, and also considering the 56" 21 Drawer Combo.

I'm worried about the 100# Drawers being too light, flimsy or cheesy. I understand that full width top drawer (bottom box) has 200# double slides, as well as bottom left hand drawer.

I have plenty of other work top space in my home shop, and really dont need length of 72", but I would consider it ????

Rather have the 56" and go vertical with MORE drawers...............

MORE comments please.........not expecting weight and strength of $5000-$7000 SO box, but still want something substantial to be prouid of !!!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE , LOOK at the www.strictlytoolboxes.com site and give your thoughtful opinions !!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to ALL,

Chuck Sharin

I'd rather buy a used SO/MAC/MATCO/Cornwell box than spring for the Chinese boxes.

The prices are pretty good on used stuff right now. That might be a problem if you're using plastic but for a cash buyer there are some good deals out there.

My two oldest boxes I bought new in 1967 (MAC and MBC)... still work fine but I need more space. I'm dealing on a 1 year old MATCO 56" rollcab right now for under $1700.00...not bad.

Good luck "touching" one on your computer! With all the dealer closings there will be plenty to choose from in used boxes. Find a local tool dealer... most guys will have nice repos in stock or on the way.

I guess I'd sooner own a gently used Porsche than a new Hyundai...

love my Tracer toolbox, worse part is deciding which drawer configuration since they made the drawers the size you want. Expensive ? Yes even by the standards of this group, worth it ? only you can decide, it was and is for me.

1/4" steel top, nice and thick. Drawers can be used as steps to stand on the top and slide easily no matter how many tools you have in them.

They were at Laguna Seca Historics (old car racing) one year and once I saw the toolbox I had to have it. http://www.billington-mfg.com/ but the tracer website is down right now, I know they are still in business so I am guessing someone forgot to pay the domain fees.

I have posted pics of my toolbox here before, you can find it with a search. They have several drawer configurations and you can choose a variety of them, my top was made to fit a specific space too, its 7'8" long because I had 8' space to fit into and I chose all the skinny drawers (1 1/2" tall) I could get, perfect for me. And I even splurged on Stainless drawer fronts.

Keep looking... there are deals out there. There's a brand new/never used 56" SO box on my local CL for $2K....

Yep, but not around here. beat up macs go for $2-3k. Eventually, I'll have an extreme box. Besidesx, a 56" SO doesn't compare to a 72" box.
