Corn lamps are blistering on the eyes, especially at lower heights. And unless it has a fan in it, I wouldn't put one in a jelly jar....even then, I probably wouldn't do it. Plus you'll have space issues.
A good 100w equivalent LED bulb will give you around 1600 lumens and will be rated for an enclosed fixture. Plus it's a frosted bulb, so much easier on the eyes. Once you start getting bigger, you'll be running into the space considerations again.
You can dump the glass globe if you want. It's only there to protect (what used to be) a glass lamp. Now you dont need it. But, IMO, it defeats the look of the jelly jar without it.
