Anybody remember the offer for the free Irwin Blue Blades? Well, mine showed up today. Five Irwin Blue Blades (awesome blades, btw) In a very cool flyer/catalog type deal. I was surprised they came.
I posted that offer and I'm still waiting ... :(

I got a set for myself and ordered a set for my mom at the farm. They came in a couple weeks of when filled out the form to ordered them. I do like them.

I got both of those freebies months ago. I also recently got a huge boring drill bit, don't remember the brand tho.

The blue blades came rather quickly, the sawzall blade took quite a bit longer and I actually forgot about it.

I never did sign up for the irwin baldes; the free titanium one lenox sent me hasn't worn out yet! I will be buying more of those. I also got that wood boring bit - it was a Bosch, but made in China.

Yea...it is a Bosch now that you mention it. I don't know if I can use it though. It's got a 1/2" shank. I don't think I've got a drill big enough to use it. I'll have to see. I don't remember what size, but it's fricken huge!

Got a survey e-mail from them yesterday asking about their blade quality, etc. Sent them a reply saying the survey would be much easier to complete if I'd actually received the free blades from them as promised. Got this response back today.
We will send them out DHL today - you should receive them early next
week. Please accept our apologies for the delay and thank you for your
interest in IRWIN!
Might even get them now. :bounce:

I got the email, too. No blades.

Should we write back saying we didn't get them also? Or just wait?

I'll send a reply to their e-mail and a link to this thread. Let them know this site could be a valuable resource for them and that they might want to have someone from the company respond as to how to correct the problem.

E-mail sent. We'll see what happens.
Monique,
Thank you for your quick response to this problem. I look forward to receiving the blades.
I learned about your offer in a thread on Garagejournal.com. Its a great website with a fairly large membership. There is a tool forum on the site where your offer was mentioned. Some of the members have received their blades, but many have not. You or someone from your company may wish to respond on this thread as to the best way to solve this problem. Your participation on this site could be a valuable resource for your company.

when I sent off for the free blades I didn't have a utility knife to use them in so I went out and bought one ... it came with 5 blades ... I got the survey too and filled it out ... they are good blades ... that knife was something I didn't know I needed ... I've used it alot ... in fact I have gone through a blade a week since I bought ... if I ever get my free blades I'll need them!

Yup, good marketing on their part.

I read the review on the Irwin blue blades, then I saw the free offer and put in the order...so I went out to buy a utility knife. Found an Irwin Protouch that came with 5 Irwin blue blades, so I picked one up.

Are you flipping the blade over when one side wears out? Simply take the blade out and put it back in the other way, and voila, it's like a brand new blade.

I never received a reply back from Irwin after the first e-mail. They did send me two five-pacs of the free blades after I complained about not getting my free ones. :bounce: Send them an e-mail and see what happens-can't hurt.

Got my Irwin blades today. Haven't had to use them yet though. Wish I had some drywall to hang, or roofing to do. That would be the real test of them....what am I thinking I hate drywalling and roofing:headscrat .

Mine hold up great to cutting over a hundred thick cardboard boxes every day as well as random zip ties, etc. thrown in there.

Just got mine earlier this week... So I guess they are trickling out... Haven't had a chance to try one yet, but am going to compare them to the Lenox Gold blades...
I'm guessing that the Lenox Gold are going to be far and away the better blades.

Mine came on 4/14. I just wish my old Irwin Blue Blades would wear out so I could try out the Lenox Golds that I have.

I got my blades Saturday, now I just need to wear, break the blade in my folding Sheffield knife that uses the replacable blades. The knife is kinda bulky, but far more useful than the pocket knife I used to carry, easier to sharpen too. :D
