Got my Orange 26” HF box! (PIC HEAVY WARNING)
(PIC HEAVY WARNING)
Hey guys,
I picked up the red 5 drawer tool cart and folding side tray during the HF parking lot sale back in March 18’. This was pretty soon after the blue became available. I went with red for the sole fact that the folding side tray (at the time) only came in red as well as the magnetic accessories. Grabbed it at $149.99 which was pretty much right before the price started creeping up. Used a 20% on the tray. Got it back to the shop and assembled it. While it looked great, I just never could warm up to it for some reason. Pushed it over in the corner and put the plastic back over it, still trying to figure out the best use for it. This is in my home garage and I’m working out of two repo’d SO Classic 78 boxes but wanted something to roll around.

Fast forward several months later, new colors available in the carts and rumors of those colors coming to the bigger boxes. Got an idea to try a 26” lower, still easy enough to roll around and much more storage. A few weeks ago, I put my one year old, but never used cart on Craigslist. Sold in less than a day and thanks to today’s pricing, was able to get my money back. Stopped by my local HF a few days before this last parking lot sale. Went in to pre-order the orange 26” lower and it showed one in stock. After some disbelief on myself and the employee, a stock guy in the back found it. Got it for $249 with a coupon and used a 20% on the orange side tray. Way easier to assemble than the cart. Bolt on the casters and handle. Came very well packaged with no damage and has three keys. The handle can go on either side and has two threaded holes and two guide pin holes on each side of the box. The hardware that came with the tray is carriage bolts with square shoulders. Didn’t want to mess with those possibly spinning while trying to tighten them, so I picked up some regular bolts for that and used the flange nuts that came with the tray. Bolts were M8x1.25-15’s. Took the top two drawers out. Used the left pivot pin hole for the first bolt and drilled three new holes. While the tray isn’t as deep as the box itself, it works out great. I may add some drawer liner to it and some kind of bumpers for when it rests against the cabinet when not it use.
Very pleased with the box so far. No mysterious "Series 2" badge as the catalogs show.
The casters are decent and the provided drawer liners are ok. The build / powdercoat quality of the box are spot on. No regrets at all.
(Two different SKU's on the cabinet, I have the 56235.)
