Awesome..great job!!!.. I know that feeling!!!!

I lived with a single 20amp chord (with many splitters) for a couple of years until this past spring when I past the inspection.

That's cool, a buddy of mine had his whole garage wired with outlets and lights all done, even had the fuse panel connected and labelled. But....the fuse panel supply was 3 20m (60') leads from his house ran over the trees and thru a hole in the wall where the good service would enter. This setup was in place for 6 years while he saved his money for the supply cable as it was 60m (180feet) from house to garage. He would only turn on what he needed so as not to overload the leads. Now he has everything running about the level as his stereo.

Congratulations!!! Think that was the best feeling I ever had, after years of running off a 100 foot extension cord and really crappy lights. Getting power was amazing

It is a great feeling ain't it!!??

I had that 100 foot extension cord when I was spending 3 months cleaning out my shop (big metal building on a slab with 2 garage doors). I could run a fan, a light and a radio.

Being on a limited budget (just plain poor!) it was 3 months before I could set up for breaker box and stuff to hook up to the pole. Got home one day and found the power company tag stating that it was correct and all hooked up. I think 7 seconds later I had installed a little stub box with a quad outlet that now ran a fan, a light and a radio.
But it was a great leap in how I felt about my shop!

Not long before I had a few runs up, 220 for the big compressor, lift and welder. Better radio and fan but was still suffering bad lighting.

Then I got lights...that turned on with a switch! I heard Angels singing!

Outside lights, outside plug for the camper, better inside lights and a couple of drop lights later and I am just damn proud of myself!

congrats, its a great feeling to be able to just plug in.

I am fighting the same battle, been working from an extension in the addition for a year, no lights. finally put in the sub box and a quad a few weeks ago and started running conduit for some lights, not there yet but excited about the prospect.

Yea, just like some of you, I've been working off a 100' extension cord from the house. So far it's just this one corner of plugs, but it's so nice not to have to roll up cords before I mow. Yes, it's still fan weather down her(during the day). Thanks for the kind words. We've built this whole thing with cash, so doing all utilities are with cash also, slowly but surely. e830bf3da85c51818f4e96c118f77f86.jpgd353883afdbf8942e6ee3b7221c2ef68.jpg

Nice shop !! Great to have that hurdle accomplished with power.

Did you post a Build Thread in the GALLERY section ?? GJer's just LOVE new build thread. If you've got bunch of pictures, start a new thread over in that section and post away.

Good luck with finishing it out. I sure love the design with open "lean to" on the left.

Are you doing your own wiring? After I got screwed by an electrician I hired to install my breaker box and stuff so the power company could hook up, I was a little gun shy.

Bought a book at Home Depot and pulled codes from the internet and started wiring how I wanted.

Drew up my original plan, calculated costs and capacity of circuits. Laid out my needed and future plans and went for it myself. Over built, triple checked, changed the plan, got better and faster...very happy with the results!

It always went slower than I anticipated, but I am sure it is rock solid and I can change or add something with confidence.

That's awesome! Yes, I have a buddy who was an electrician in the navy, and other friends with various electrical experience.

I too am in the home stretch.. I have my inspections next week. Rough on Monday for the trench, then final on wed. I can't wait to flip a light switch rather than plugging in an extension cord.9258bca3e7ef1c4c82320910e2e89d01.jpgf95213f60b503c02435767b8c328ebfe.jpgc548392b145344204096ff1c1c1e74e8.jpg
