Yeah, Thats the trouble.
Our snap on guy don't even stop where I work, most of the guys are older, and have pretty well what they need, so he stopped a few times, but no one brought anything, so he never came back.
Don't think we have a MAC or Matco in the area.
Thanks,
Tony

Local Advance Auto has Gearwrench ratchets. I doubt if they would give trouble over warrentying tools, but its been a long time since I had anything to warrenty there. In fact, the last ratchet I warrentied at AA was a Taiwan Thorsen ratchet, which I still have.

BTW, I don't see anything wrong with standing up for yourself and I don't call saying something complimentary and truthful "being bought out by GW."

BTW2, watch out for storms that may come your way. The upstate has tornado watches until 2 PM Sunday nite.

Boy do you ever have a misconception of reality. I posted all the negetive experiance with Gearwrench. When they finally made it right I posted that as well as it's only fair. never said they were the Devil and always said I liked the tools themselves. I just complained about the the warranty. In my case the made it right. If my warranty issues rubbed you the wrong way Tough ****. I posted the bad and the good. It's only fair. If I kept pounding them in the dirt after they resolved my issue that would just make me a stupid ******* like some members here. Screw me over and I'll tell the world, fix the problem I'll tell that as well. If you feel it in your best interest to lie where you buy your tools in order to get them warrantied more power to you. I bought the tools new for my son and not at some yard sale. They just happen to come from a dealer off of ebay. That shouldn't have made any differance. I'm not on here preaching to go out and buy Gearwrench. As for myself I fell a little safer buying them but still a little gun shy about pulling the trigger on a major gearwrench purchace.

As for me I personally like to hear other peoples experiance when it comes to warranty. My initail post was because Gearwrench did me wrong on the warranty. I knew it, they knew it and I let others know about it. If nobody complains nothing ever gets fixed. My ******* and moaning may have paved the way for your next Gearwrench warranty claim. If my post bother you so much there is an ignore option readily available to you.

That is what I wanted to hear from you. I have no problem with you posting both your first thread and this one. I just got the impression that you went from absolutely hating them to them being the best tool on earth, though you may have not intended it to come off this way. Your comment in red is more of what I would expect to hear from someone in your situation. I just saw in your first thread that you where done buying them, and now in this thread they are great again. In my opinion I too would be a little gun shy after your experience and that is what I was trying to get at, that just because they came through now after an extended period of time does not mean they have the best warranty, it does however mean that they do care about their customers and if you yell loud enough they will listen. Make any sense?

I had a GW ratchet that was auto-reversing on me. I finally figured out that the RLL I had in was too thick in cold weather (it was fine once it warmed up). But before I figured that out, I tried to get it exchanged. They said, "No receipt, no exchange." Screw that -- says "Lifetime guarantee" right on the packaging. Shouldn't need a receipt to prove that I have the wrench and that I'm still alive. ;-)

I will give Advance Auto (corporate) the benefit of the doubt however and say it might just be that particular store. I'd had other issues there before that one so I no longer shop there. Other AA locations around here seem to have better help.

My first Gearwrench Casualty. 19mm Flex Head

I was using this today and suddenly the ring fell off. The parts flew away but I was still able to retrieve the pawl. I don't think I can find the ball and the lock anymore :)

It's a bit funny because this particular wrench was not used much and all the other GW stuff used on a daily basis are holding up.

Given a chance I might send this back to the States and to Sears for warranty.

The thing about me is not only will I ***** when Ive been hosed I'll also man up and mention when my problem has been resolved. I'm sure Maning up isn't a concept that you are very familiar with.

If I started a bitchfest about a company that wronged me and they finally made things right I would post it. I'd still have serious misgivings about future dealings with them though..............

Beyond that you don't know me;)

The remark about my radiator plugged with Fur is a prime example of a childlike remark from the mind of a 10 year old. You should trying growing up.

You left yourself wide open for that one. I doubt anyone held a gun to your head and made you post about all the animals you allegedly killed on a roadtrip.

I also find it ironic being accused of being childlike by someone with such a poor command of the english language. I could write better than that when I was 10:spit:

Maybe you need to find something more constructive to do than find fault in others. I'm sure you could look in a mirror and spend a few hours finding fault if you were honest with yourself. It's easy to be a douchebag sitting at your keyboard. I bet in real life you couldn't beat your way out of a wet paper bag

It's good to hear GW came through. I have many gearwrench tools which I purchased on sale in my truck box and my wifes car that have held up well. I have however broke several tools, and I always call the customer service number and they resolve my issue and send the new tools out. I can honestly say I have used the warranty 3-4 times and I have never had a problem. They ask me where I bought the tool, but in my case it has always been Sears.

To anyone who is hesitant on buying the brand, I can say I have always had a great experience with them.

going back to the topic, would this prompt you to likely by more GW tools despite the experience?

I did have some GW stuff i got on sale but I would hesitate to purchase from a company for quite some time if a had a bad experience unless choice is very limited.

I've also seen most new GW stuff now come from china, does COO really matter with GW?

I never had a problem getting a warranty on the gearwrench Purchaced at Sears. The problem was is that no place in my area sells the 60 tooth flex ratchets. Until I ran into a snag getting these warrantied I was satisfied with the warranty.
I guess the thing that gets to me more than the poor warranty experiance are the doushebags who think that just because Gearwrench sent me a few extras that I've been bought off and I'm screaming for everyone to go out and buy gearwrench. I just thought it was only fair that after all the **** I gave them about the warranty issues that when they came through and replaced the ratchets that to post up they did a good thing was the right thing to do.

Ive always liked Gearwrench tools, i'm glad they did the right thing even though it seems like they greased the squeaky wheel. but it could be the thing that makes the differance the next time someome else needs a warranty replacement. I just bought a 63 3/8 SAE/Metric master socket set from Cripe. I like it. It just amazes me how some others think I sould still be bashing and boycoting them afyer they resolved the problem.

I thought you said Cripe wasnt a place that Gearwrench would warranty as they arent an authorized seller?????

And the reason people are questioning you is your title, I would not by any means call your experience "great"

I am going to keep buying and using them but not because of your opinions of them, or their warranty.

It's not on the list. I have hopes of the warranty revised.

Anytime a company follows through these days I would call that great being as most places just leave you hanging.

Yes I would hope you are mature enough to make up your own mind

Please provide a link to Steve "Mr. Gearwrench." I had a negative issue with Apex Customer Service today.

very unhappy with my gently used 3/8 ratchet by gearwrench. can 't get it warrantied or parts to fix it. run around from apex when i call them. be careful of a warranty that can't be provided. won't be buying from them again.

Can you provide any more details. What did you tell them and how did they respond?
