I like old Consew or Phaff but use my old Singer 90% of the time because I learned on it and I'm real used to it's quirks. Juki make a few affordable machines too, you'll want a "walking foot" style in any of those brands and having reverse is great. I can keep an eye out if you'd like but shipping would $uck due to weight.

I will use some of that info for search terms. I need more stuff right now like another hole in my head. I had some older singers that I scrapped a few years back. They were made for specific boots and I could find no one interested in them. They might have worked but I will never know now.

My bad, I read too fast and thought you meant the ones on the pallet rack. The row of carry boxes on that purling are empty atm, I may find a use for them eventually but for now they are display only. I am trying to phase out the crown top in favor of the older heritage logo so they may be sold off or decoupaged for more decoration.
I've been chasing ghosts at the shop....and bats...and snakes...and rats(turned out to be baby possum)...and bugs...
Anyway, the outlets behind the fridge and at the center pole between the roll up doors were not usable when we moved in here. Also, none of the outlets were grounded to the metal box, I took the liberty of grounding them myself, hope this is correct? I started at the broken receptacles, changed all the damaged ones, then tested again and still 80v on one leg. I checked the breaker and found the issue, it melted out and was not making contact. Finally got all the outlets working and labeled at the box. The box is not grounded either, should I hammer a ground rod outside and run a ground to it?
Changed the left outlet and added a metal plate.
Changed out the left outlet and right switch to lighted(goes to outside light) and added a 30a 240v grounded 4 wire outlet, there was just wires hanging out where the old 240v was so I put a cover there, then new outlet was too large for that small box.
Then I upcycled some of the free old fence boards I picked up last week from the curb and made a 20' long center divider wall. The bottom will be some sort of metal, like corrugated tin or similar(gotta get with my scrap guy

The divider wall looks great, I want to know how you like it long term. I have been considering doing this just to add more wall space for equipment and benches. I was going to go full height to keep sparks and dust from the fabrication area out of the rest of the space. I was worried it would cause me issues with heating the space in the winter.

What is this thread really about? I expected to see some devotion to the girlfriends.
This building is shaded on the cabinet bay, all day but the machine side catches sun in the evening. I plan to go all the way up with the divider, maybe over head cabinets above the wall but definitely will be divided for dust/overspray etc.

Yes, I reused the 2x4's from a sheet rock wall I had at my other shop and picked up a pile of old fence boards from the curb in the neighborhood last week. The price was right, FREE! I like the look as well, hope to find some good tin soon and finish it out!

I like the title. He probably just wanted to see more of the GF. It is shaping up nicely. I got some of my durham slide out draws bolted together today, but that was about all I did. You were much more productive than I was.
Left bay will be machines, I will move some of the smaller ones like pedestal grinders/sanders welding carts, etc to the center wall once it goes up and then I can bring my lathe over and put it by the man door at the end.
Does that 6x48 belt sander have the correct pedestal upper part? I see a block of wood there. If not you never know who might have one hanging around

What was that stand for originally?
Someone had a 4" joiner rigged on top with a wood plate and motor mount. There is a triangle shaped cast metal bracket under the wood.
Any chance you have a pole mounted top plate for the Craftsman band saw laying around? I have the band saw on a double pole base from a 6" joiner right now but I'm looking for an original stand for it too.

Nice setup nine. Gonna be following along with your build and organize. Man its a lot of work to move. What are you going to build in your shop? It looks like a lot of space for just home use.
That breaker looks like an old stab lock style. That are known to not trip under load and burn up. Plus they are expensive compared to newer breakers. It might be worth your time to replace the panel.

The table is exactly the same dimensions as the newer 8" but the insert was 1/2" longer on the older saw on the stand. I took the joiner off last night and measured, the joiner will bolt right on the newer table and the table extension is the same size as well, though I don't need another extension or joiner since the newer saw came with both extensions and a separate joiner.

After walking through it (took about 12 seconds to see it all) I asked my gf what she thought. "I think we should get it" was her reply. She knew I wanted that garage! We put up with that house for 8 years until we could afford something better...and after looking at over 100 places, again bought the 1 with the best garage. Luckily the house that came with it is a little nicer and in a much better neighborhood than the last one. Some women just know the way to a man's heart, and if we're smart, we'll never let 'em go.

My neverending project- 2002 S10. I had a power sliding sunroof installed at Tops Unlimited back in '03. They cut out pretty much all but the perimeter of the headliner board to fit the sunroof, then glue headliner fabric to the remaining perimeter and to the edge around the sunroof. The fabric in between is just stretched and kinda floating there. They do this so the 'roof looks like a factory-installed unit. I have a spare and nearly perfect junkyard headliner and I wanna see if I can trim out just the area for the sunroof to eliminate the unsupported part. Figured I could use professional's input. I also have some nearly mint '09 Avenger seats to swap in, but I'd like to get the inserts replaced with something that better matches my truck. They currently have a sort of houndstooth material. I have the covers stripped off already, so it should be just a cut out/trace/sew-in job, I would think. At the moment, the interior isn't the highest on my list. Finishing my shop and getting the V8 swap done is. I got your PM, and your number saved in my phone.
The pile is loaded for early morning leave out and transfer to the rental car (its actually cheaper for me to rent an economy car for four days that gets 35 MPG than the 15 MPG my Excursion gets on the interstate)

I have an idea what you mean on the sunroof, I'd need to see it in person to know how to go about actually fixing the problem though. Hit me up when you get closer to finishing.

I have 3 identical 10" saws, eventual plan is use the best parts to make 2 nice ones and put both on a custom stand with an extension bolted between them and extensions on both sides as well.
Plus I have two heritage 8" saws I am selling.
So no I don't want another saw LOL!
Bluebolt showed up with lots of goodies, can't wait to get some more machines mounted on these pedestals and the Gerstner is beyond awesome!!
And I flipped some fishing lures I found on the side of the road for free and turned that cash into tin, literally. Finally got the lower half of my wall up, now just to trim out edges for appearance and build the upper shelves.
