Whats the going rate for one of these in nice shape. Mounted on a beefy stand. Got no pictures, so dont ask. Guys moving, and I could probably get it stupid cheap. Already have a hydraulic press, so do I really need this. Thanks.

Does it have the ratchet? Thats the #3R mdl. and they're a lot more desirable. The large captain wheel version are very collectable.

I would say $150 is a fair buddy price for the normal #3, I think $300 is more typical on the open used market. Does it have the revolving slotted plate? that is also something you would really want to have and effects value unless you already have one laying around that fits.

If it has the ratchet, I would be all over it.

Manual arbors are nice to have for the smaller and more sensitive items needing pressing over hydraulic, having that hand feel can be very key.

Edit: I'll add that Greenerds are excellent quality and compare with Dake's and Famco's, they rightly command a higher price than Palmgrens, Harbor freights and other the presses being made overseas.

Also, #3 is the perfect size for a manual. I also have a 1T and its more like a toy, a lot of the times when walking toward it to press something, I would turn around and walk toward the bigger one because I could already see it was too small for the task at hand.

I find the #3 size arbor press is my most used arbor press. Just tall enough I can seat fractional HP motor bearings. I agree with macgee that the ratchet is really nice, but you can get a lot done even without one.

In my opinion a fair good buyers price would be around $300. I see them (and comparable others) listed for well over that and rarely any less, but that seems about the floor. At auction (not ebay, real auction) I have seen them go for as little as $100. The cheapest I saw listed on ebay was $600 with a lot in the $900-$1000 range so others may disagree with me.

As far as need when you already have a hydraulic press, if you can get it in the $300 range grab it and don't look back. I had an air over hydraulic 40 ton (now electro hydraulic) shop press when I bought a Dake 1-1/2B for the specific purpose of broaching. I use the Dake almost daily now; I used to only use the shop press once a month or so. The arbor press really replaced a hammer, not a press for me. I use it for pressing in and out roll pins from shafts, bearings on and off shafts, rod seals, list goes on. It has a lot more feel and finesse than a shop press.

Looks like Magee beat me while I was typing, but we came to the same consensus on market price, not bad!

Thanks for info. Now to find room in the garage for it. Use it for a coat rack if nothing else.
