Hi Hopefully this is the correct place to post this. I need to make a 2 inch hole in stainless steel. What size of Greenlee knockout do I need? I have a set that goes up to 1 1/4 conduit size which I belive is actual 1 1/2 ......

how thick is the stainless? you may also consider a TCT hole cutter, slow speed, and the appropriate lube. Alot cheaper than a 2" punch

a 2" punch will not be 2". they are sized by the conduit connectors they are for.

i would use an arbor and hole saw.

While there are punches for 2" conduit, you can also buy a 2" Greenlee punch. Lots of folks are familiar with those punches because they are used in electrical work but there are about a zillion different sizes of Greenlees.

I believe they have some sizes for conduits and others that are straight-up sizes. I'm sure there's a guide online somewhere. I'll see if I can dig it up for you.

Here:

Component Part #s: 04611 04609 29452

or 35181 (set), slightly different configuration, I think, but still 2".

A 2" conduit punch is sized for conduit. A 2" punch is sized for 2". Refer to the link in my post.

that was worth downloading. i have never seen a ton of that stuff. only the electrical punches. on the job, we use the set with the hydraulic pump. i have my own manual punches for 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1 1/4" (they are almost as old as i am. it is in a conical leather roll.).

A while back I thought the same but then looked up their catalog. The exact size punches cost a little more than similar conduit sizes due to lower demand and are a little harder to find.

Here it is at McMaster: http://www.mcmaster.com/#34685A39

that seems pretty cost prohibitive for one hole. but it is a chance to buy a new toy.
